However, another ex-member of the Intelligence Unit needs to make a comeback instead.

Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), last seen in the finale of Chicago PD season 6, has been noticeably absent. Though we’ve received updates about his situation through another One Chicago series, Chicago Fire, it’s high time for a visual update on his well-being. Given that Burgess and Ruzek might at least ponder over inviting him to their wedding, it seems fitting to catch up with his character. However, there could be complications in bringing him back to the series.

After dealing with his drug problem, he relocated to Puerto Rico to assist his sister in humanitarian efforts, which eventually provided him with a new direction in life. Reintroducing him for the wedding would give us an opportunity to witness his well-being, considering his departure was so unexpected and emotional.

The wedding decision reflects a sense of connection, as Dawson has both professional and personal ties with Burgess and Ruzek. He was always there for them during his time at the Intelligence Unit, even going so far as to protect them from the revelation that he had a drug addiction which Voight (Jason Beghe) concealed. Given that he disappeared from Upton and the rest of the team after his departure in Chicago PD season 10, it’s not surprising that they didn’t forge a close friendship.

During that time, Dawson held a particularly intimate bond with the happy duo, especially with Burgess. The two had shared a partnership when they were on patrol duty, until Dawson’s career took off. In Chicago PD season 3, Burgess leaned on Dawson when a case involving a college professor left her and her partner Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) uneasy. Since there was already a friendly professional bond between them, it seemed natural that Burgess would prefer this Chicago PD character to attend her wedding.

As reported by One Chicago Center, there’s some disappointing news that might prevent his appearance at the upcoming wedding, but there could still be a chance for him to rejoin Chicago PD during its 13th season. At this time, no plans are in place to bring him back immediately. It has been quite a while since he last appeared on the show, and characters like Halstead and Upton have also moved on since then. However, Seda only wants to return if there’s a compelling reason for it. Many fans believe that Burgess and Ruzek’s wedding in Chicago PD season 12 could provide such a reason.
