Wildlands 2025 lineup: DJ Fisher joins Ice Spice, Chase & Status and more in massive music festival to ring in the new year

As a seasoned festival-goer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the lineup for Wildlands Festival 2025 is nothing short of breathtaking! From Aussie DJ Fisher to US rapper Ice Spice, and UK drum and bass duo Chase & Status, it’s a global melting pot of talent. And let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the energy that these artists bring when they hit the stage.

Australian DJ Fisher will lead a huge international lineup for Wildlands Festival 2025.

On New Year’s Eve, the ARIA Award-winning songwriter will team up with American rapper Ice Spice as they headline the festival schedule. The event is set to commence in Brisbane initially, followed by stops in Perth and Adelaide.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that I, too, am looking forward to returning Down Under, just like the UK drum and bass powerhouse, Chase & Status. They graced our shores in April, and now we have the pleasure of welcoming them back for a three-date electro-pop festival extravaganza!

Among the highlights of this year’s event that I’m excited about is Marlon Hoffstadt, a rave maestro hailing from Berlin; the dynamic duo Royel Otis from Sydney; and the acclaimed R&B and pop sensation, Tinashe, all the way from America.

UK DJ Sammy Virji is also scheduled to perform at both Brisbane and Perth events, sharing the stage with American rap artist RL Grime.

For the 2024 festival, the initial lineup unveiling features Becky Hill, the artist behind the hit “Believe Me Now”, along with Horsegirl, Wilkinson, Confidence Man, an anonymous act known as Joy, and Lola Young.

In this concert, we have BARKAA, Melugi, Sam Alfred, Hannah Laing, Issey Cross, MESSIE, Little Fritter, one tablespoon (1tbsp), SAMMYTHESINNER, Moss, Djanaba, and the UK-Dutch pop group GIRLTHING joining an impressive roster of performers.

For music enthusiasts unable to attend the Lost Paradise festival in Glenworth Valley, New South Wales, or the Beyond the Valley festival in Victoria, the initial Wildlands lineup offers an excellent alternative as several performers from these events will also be part of it.

The adventure begins in Brisbane on New Year’s Eve, followed by stops in Perth on January 4th, and then Adelaide the next day, on January 5th.

After several event cancellations, such as Bluesfest in Byron Bay, Splendour in the Grass, Groovin the Moo, and ValleyWays, we’re now looking forward to a series of summer festivals.

Danny Grant, a music promoter, posted a TikTok video in March stating that the renowned artists scheduled for the cancelled Splendour In The Grass festival were simply too ‘varied’ or ‘multicultural’, rather than ‘diverse’ as initially mentioned.

The festival organizer stated in the video that they’ve endured a challenging three-year period and have been attempting to expand into various areas too broadly.

‘They went from Kylie Minogue to [American rapper] Future and they were probably aiming at crowds that didn’t want to see each other.’

He added: ‘I don’t think there was much of a crossover. It did the opposite of what they were hoping for.’

In simpler terms, Australian hip-hop artist Illy added his thoughts, stating that the problem isn’t primarily about the cost of living but rather a cultural issue. He explained that people are generally unwilling to spend money on artists or performances they don’t find appealing.

‘Australian music CULTURE is broken,’ he wrote on X.

Despite many festivals like Yes Falls, Groovin, and Splendour (and countless smaller ones) facing cancellations, events such as Pink’s stadium shows, Taylor Swift’s tickets selling over 600,000, and Fred again achieving over 100,000 in a single day demonstrate a thriving cultural scene. This phenomenon is more about culture than it is about the cost of living.

Illy similarly expressed the view that the quality of Australian music has noticeably declined, possibly because audiences are reluctant to invest in tickets for artists they aren’t particularly fond of.
