With the recent end of The Kyle & Jackie O Show, some strange rumors are circulating among fans about the real reasons behind its cancellation.
Many people don’t believe the highly publicized falling out between radio personalities Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson is genuine, suspecting it’s all a publicity stunt.
Many people online are wondering if the pair, or the radio station KIIS FM, made up their disagreement as a way to break the $200 million contract they agreed to in 2023.
After the news came out, someone commented online, ‘It’s a pretty clear way to break a contract and then launch a new radio program somewhere else.’
Someone suggested the show’s poor ratings might be the reason it was canceled, implying it was a convenient excuse to take it off the air.
One observer pointed out that this move is clearly an attempt by the network to cut its losses – potentially tens of millions of dollars – after its unsuccessful expansion into Melbourne.
Someone suggested they both likely wanted to end their agreements, calling it the easiest way to break a contract. Another person commented that this was a good method for ending their ten-year deal with KIIS.
Some people speculated that the disagreement and eventual firing of Henderson were attempts to cut costs as the industry struggled.
Let’s be real, the numbers in Melbourne haven’t been great for this duo, and ARN has invested a lot of money in them – especially considering how tough the radio landscape is right now. It’s a tricky situation, to say the least.
Others thought this was Henderson, 51, and Sandilands, 54’s, opportunity to finally pursue separate paths after working together for 25 years.
Someone commented that this feels like a deliberate, attention-grabbing exit strategy.
‘Do you think he [Sandilands] wanted his contract cancelled so he can go elsewhere?’ added another.
Someone suggested that their disappointing performance in Melbourne likely caused them to lose audience members in Sydney as well.
The show’s ratings were declining, so they created a fabricated conflict to make it look like the cast and crew chose to end things on their own terms, rather than facing cancellation.
The Daily Mail isn’t claiming these theories are accurate and has contacted KIIS FM, Henderson, and Sandilands for their response.
The popular Kyle & Jackie O radio show ended abruptly on Tuesday following a public disagreement between its hosts, Kyle Henderson and Jackie Sandilands.
ARN, the company that owns KIIS FM, has ended Jackie Henderson’s $100 million contract. This decision came after Henderson informed executives she could no longer work with Kyle Sandilands due to his on-air remarks, which deeply upset her.
Sandilands has been suspended and given 14 days to ‘remedy’ the breach, or else faces termination.
ARN sent a written notice to Sandilands informing him that his actions on the February 20th show were considered a serious violation of the agreement between ARN and Quasar Media.
The KIIS breakfast show is ending right away, and temporary plans are being put in place for the timeslot.
ARN has offered Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on the network.
Okay, so here’s what’s been going on with the show: Henderson hasn’t been on air since February 20th. It all started when Kyle Sandilands expressed some concerns about her focus at work, and she’s been off ever since.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! During that whole insane back-and-forth on TV, Henderson completely lost it – started crying – when they brought up Prince Andrew! It was… a moment. I couldn’t believe it. Seriously, a total breakdown over Prince Andrew. I’ve rewatched it like, ten times.
Sandilands got angry at her when she proceeded to read out the disgraced royal’s birth chart.
He lambasted his co-star, claiming that her love for astrology was affecting her work.
When Henderson tried to protect herself and told him he was attacking her, he claimed he was simply stating what he believed to be true.
An emotional Henderson said she was deeply ‘offended’ by his brutal comments during the clash.
After the disagreement, she took a break from the show and was scheduled to come back on March 2nd.
On Monday, it was announced that her return to the airwaves had been pushed back another week.
So, yesterday on the show, I mentioned that Russ Henderson might be coming back to the airwaves ‘at some stage,’ but unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. It was a bit of a tease, I admit, and I’m sorry for any confusion!
