Wild Rift Gnar Guide: Skill Analysis

Passive – Rage Gene

Fury arises whenever character Gnar inflicts or receives damage. Once at maximum fury level, the character transforms into Mega Gnar. The passive abilities for Mini Gnar and Mega Gnar respectively are as follows:

1. Mini Gnar: When an enemy champion is hit by a basic attack, there’s a chance that Gnar will gain bonus movement speed for a short duration.

2. Mega Gnar: Each time an enemy champion is attacked, they take increased damage and are slowed for a brief period of time. Additionally, when Mega Gnar takes a critical strike, he gains a shield that absorbs a portion of the incoming damage.

  • Mini Gnar: Gains bonus attack range, movement speed, and attack speed.
  • Mega Gnar: Gains bonus health, attack damage, armor, and magic resistance.

Skill 1: Boomerang Throw/Boulder Toss

  • Boomerang Throw: Mini Gnar throws a Boomerang that deals damage and slows all enemies hit by it. The skill cooldown will be reduced if you catch the boomerang while it’s returning.
  • Boulder Toss: Mega Gnar throws a boulder which damages and slows down the enemy hit by it. You can pick up the thrown Boulder to reset the cooldown and re-throw the boulder.

Skill 2: Hyper/Wallop

  • Hyper: Mini Gnar gets Hyped whenever it uses Basic attacks or casts an ability. This skill deals with bonus magic damage, increases Mini Gnar’s Attack speed, and grants bonus movement speed.
  • Wallop: Mega Gnar smashes down, dealing damage and stunning enemies within the area.

This skill also grants bonus movement speed whenever Mega Gnar changes into Mini Gnar.

Skill 3: Hop/Crunch

  • Hop: Mini Gnar leaps to a specified location. If Mini Gnar lands on an enemy target, it can bounce off again in the specified direction.
  • Crunch: Mega Gnar jumps to a target area, dealing damage and slowing down nearby enemies.

Skill 4: Gnar!

  • Passive: Grants extra Movement Speed to Mini Gnar.
  • Active: Mega Gnar knocks back nearby enemies in the target direction, dealing damage and slowing them down. Throwing enemies into a wall will deal bonus damage and stun them.

Given his diverse skill set and high potential, Gnar is particularly effective when deployed in the Solo or Baron Lane. This is because he has a knack for contributing significantly to the team’s dominance in these areas.

Best Rune Setup for Gnar

As an ardent admirer, I can say that my preferred rune configuration for Gnar is tailored to amplify his ability cooldown rate, ability power, and ability magic penetration, all of which significantly enhance his combat effectiveness in the Summoner’s Rift.

  • Fleet Footwork: Grants healing and movement speed, helping Mini Gnar poke and kite safely.
  • Nullifying Orb: Provides a shield when low on health, useful against burst damage.
  • Bone Plating: Reduces damage from the first three enemy hits, greatly improving Gnar’s overall survivability.
  • Overgrowth: Grants bonus max health over time, making Mega Gnar more tanky on the Rift.
  • Brutal: Increases Gnar’s overall attack damage, giving him the early-game damage boost and advantage.

Battle Spells

The best battle items for Gnar on the Rift include:

  • Flash: For safety purposes, it is advised to pick up Flash. Gnar could maximize this spell to increase its mobility on the battlefield, as it helps for easy repositioning.
  • Ignite: This spell is quite useful especially to finish off Low Health champions.

Best Builds for Gnar in Wild Rift

Gnar’s equipment strategy emphasizes a balance between dealing damage, enhancing survivability, and providing utility. This enables him to harass, initiate fights, and be a dependable frontline. Key items such as Trinity Force and Black Cleaver amplify Gnar’s damage output and cooldown reduction. By selecting the appropriate gear, Gnar can control the lane effectively, maintain durability in prolonged fights, and prove to be a formidable Fighter selection on the battlefield.

  • Plated Steelcaps: Plated Steelcaps grant extra armor and damage reduction from basic attacks, increasing Gnar’s survivability early on. Enchant the boots with the Stasis Enchant as its stasis ability buys extra time for Gnar when in dangerous situations while waiting for his team to follow up.
  • Trinity Force: Boosts Gnar’s attack damage, attack speed, health, and burst damage after the use of its abilities.
  • Black Cleaver: This item lowers enemy armor, increases health, and grants bonus ability haste for Gnar on the rift.
  • Sterak’s Gage: Provides bonus health and a shield to protect Gnar against heavy burst damage.
  • Death’s Dance This item converts damage taken into bleed while healing Gnar on each takedown.
  • Guardian Angel: This can be very useful in the late game as it revives Gnar after death, allowing aggressive plays in team fights.

League of Legends: Wild Rift Gnar Guide: Gameplay Tips

Gnar is a formidable fighter/tank character, boasting an assortment of special skills that give him an advantage in prolonged team battles. To excel with Gnar, it’s crucial to master his Rage control, strategic positioning, and well-executed engagements. This guide will explore Gnar’s gameplay across the Early, Middle, and Late phases to provide a comprehensive understanding of this champion.

Early Game

In the opening stages of gameplay, particularly during laning phases, Gnar performs exceptionally well due to his long-range advantage with his Mini-Gnar form. Use Boomerang Throw to poke opponents and farm safely without risk. Remember to always retrieve the boomerang since it will decrease the ability’s cooldown. Each third attack with Mini-Gnar’s second skill, Hyper, increases movement speed, making trades more advantageous for you.

Leverage the extra attack speed from your skill to make Gnar angry and transform into Mega Gnar. Once his rage meter is full, it’s best to be bold and play aggressively since Mega Gnar boasts increased toughness and crowd control. Additionally, don’t forget to carefully position wards at key locations on the map to provide your team with a strategic edge when battling on the Field of Justice.

As a gamer, I always keep an eye on the map, you never know when enemies might be trying to catch me off guard in my lane or jungle. A few well-timed rotations could really help our team, especially with Rift Herald about to spawn. To excel during the early game, it’s crucial that I keep attacking enemies to fill up Gnar’s Rage meter faster. To max out rage using Mini Gnar, a specific skill combo works best: [skill combo here]

Skill 1 + Skill 2 + Basic Attack + Skill 3

Mid Game

Helping your team capture key jungle objectives such as the Rift Herald will earn you and your teammates a significant amount of bonus gold. Use this extra gold to prioritize essential items for your build, including Trinity Force, Black Cleaver, and Sterak’s Gage.

During the heart of the match, Gnar excels in both solo pushing and group battles. In his miniature form, Gnar can harass enemies from afar using the ability called Boomerang Throw while maintaining agility with Hyper. It’s crucial to keep an eye on your Rage meter before team fights, as transforming into Mega Gnar at the opportune moment could significantly shift the game’s outcome.

Utilize “Crunch” for a charge into opponents, follow it up with “Wallop” to stun multiple foes, and then perform “Gnar!” against a wall for tremendous crowd control. Make sure to shove enemies towards the wall when you plan on using Mega Gnar’s ultimate skill. In contests over objectives like “Dragon” or “Rift Herald“, keep opponents at bay with “Boulder Toss“. If you haven’t accumulated enough Rage yet, exercise caution and use “Hop” to reposition or effectively kite enemies.

The best combo to use while using Mega Gnar is as follows:

Skill 2 + Skill 3 + Ultimate ability (Push enemies onto a wall) + Skill 1

Late Game

As the game nears its end, I become a real pain in the neck for opposing teams as a team fight disrupter. It’s crucial to strategically position myself in my Mini Gnar form, taking advantage of opportunities to poke them with my Boomerang Throw, all while steering clear of direct confrontations. When I’m about to transform into Mega Gnar, it’s time to gear up for a fight. I’ll jump right into the enemy team, then unleash my potent skill combo to cause chaos and hurl opponents into walls for maximum damage and additional control over the battlefield.

In addition to focusing on the enemy’s primary Attack Damage Carry (ADC) and squishy characters, make sure to avoid attacking when transforming into Mega Gnar. Instead, dodge and wait for your Rage bar to fill up before engaging. Use Hyper to kite until transformation is ready. Timing your engagements and initiations effectively can significantly swing late-game battles in your team’s favor.

In other words, Gnar needs to consistently collaborate with his team’s tank and main damage carrier (ADC) before entering team battles. It’s also crucial for him to focus on assisting allies in capturing significant objectives such as Baron Nashor and the Elder Dragons, as doing so will undoubtedly give your team an edge in every game.
