Wicked’s Cynthia Erivo lands next movie role in unique thriller
Actress Cynthia Erivo, famous for her role in “Wicked,” has secured her next film project, a high-octane action thriller produced by the creators of the “John Wick” series.
It’s reported that the actress who played Elphaba has signed up for the ensemble of “Karoshi,” a legal thriller featuring a samurai motif. The term “karoshi” denotes someone who passes away suddenly due to excessive work, and the story unfolds in an imaginative depiction of New York City with a Japanese influence.
In a new venture, Cynthia Erivo is set to share the screen with Teo Yoo and Isabel May, known for their roles in “Past Lives,” “The Recruit,” and “1883” respectively. The upcoming project will also feature John Wick director Chad Stahelski as a producer, working through his production company 87Eleven Entertainment, alongside studio Lionsgate.
The production process will kick off in June, with Takashi Doscher helming the project based on his self-written script. For the moment, specifics regarding characters and storyline are being tightly guarded.
Moving ahead, Erivo is set to appear in the second season of Natasha Lyonne’s show “Poker Face”, as well as the second installment of “Wicked”, which will be called “Wicked: For Good”.
It’s been confirmed that the portrayal of the character Nessarose in the second half of the stage show will undergo a change, and her character will no longer be depicted as wanting a disability to be cured.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Marissa Bode has hinted at a shift in focus for an upcoming scene. Instead of zeroing in on specific aspects, we’ll delve into the broader realm of “the enchantment that permeates the tale,” without spilling the beans on the specifics just yet.
As a devoted fan, I must admit that it’s bittersweet to hear Keanu Reeves confirming the end of John Wick’s story after chapter 4. After all, John Wick is dead, and he met his untimely end in the fourth installment of the series, “John Wick: Chapter 4.” It’s hard to imagine the world without this iconic character, but I’m eagerly awaiting to see how the story unfolds.
In Hollywood, they often have a knack for… To put it simply, that’s typically how things play out in Tinseltown. At the moment, as far as I know, there are no current plans.
The one exception is the spin-off Ballerina, which is coming out in the summer.
