Wicked movie soundtrack confirms which songs are in first movie

As a long-time musical theater enthusiast who has sung my heart out to the original cast recordings of “Wicked” countless times, I must say I’m overjoyed by the official soundtrack listing for the upcoming film adaptation! It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when a beloved show gets adapted for the big screen, but hearing Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande bring these iconic songs to life is just pure magic.

The first installment of the “Wicked” films has revealed the specific tunes that will be included, since they’ve unveiled the official tracklist for the soundtrack.

For some time now, it’s been understood that the initial movie will encompass the first act of the stage musical. Consequently, it comes as no shock that all songs from the first act can be found in the film. Furthermore, this aligns with speculation suggesting that the length of the first film might match the entire stage performance, indicating that no new songs are being introduced.

The tracklist for the Wicked: Part One movie soundtrack is as follows:

  1. ‘No One Mourns the Wicked’
  2. ‘Dear Old Shiz’
  3. ‘The Wizard and I’
  4. ‘What Is This Feeling?’
  5. ‘Something Bad’
  6. ‘Dancing Through Life’
  7. ‘Popular’
  8. ‘I’m Not That Girl’
  9. ‘One Short Day’
  10. ‘A Sentimental Man’
  11. ‘Defying Gravity’

Until today, we only got a glimpse of ‘Defying Gravity’ in trailers, but the recently released ‘Magical Event’ promo allowed us to finally hear Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and the entire ensemble perform these beloved tunes for the first time in full. (You can watch it at the top of this page.)

It’s been a worrying trend in Hollywood lately, but hopefully this new trailer is start of Wicked movie promo going all-in on it being a capital-M musical.

It would be great if some of the songs from the movie are going to be made available in their entirety before its premiere, considering that the soundtrack will become accessible on November 22.

Recently, Grande defended herself against critics who were commenting on her altered voice in Wicked, explaining: “A segment of the population isn’t aware of the effort involved in modifying one’s voice – be it singing, adopting a new dialect for a role, or creating a character voice for a project.

Wicked: Part One will be released in cinemas on November 22.
