What to Read Next

The new movie continues the story right after the heartbreaking split between Elphaba and Glinda in the first film, and it’s already been a huge success with both audiences and critics.

This musical fantasy continues the story of two witch friends whose bond is threatened when one is falsely accused of being evil by the magical governing body.

Joining Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande in the movie are returning cast members Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Marissa Bode.

Director Jon M Chu recently explained why he chose to remove a well-known song from the beginning of the movie’s opening scene.

The director told Collider he originally intended to start the sequel by showing a summary of ‘Defying Gravity,’ but he decided against it after an initial test screening with audiences.

During the initial screening, I rewound the footage to the beginning of ‘Defying Gravity’. We replayed the song, and then immediately jumped back into the main content to re-engage the audience.

He explained that after further consideration, the initial plan wasn’t necessary. He’d originally thought people needed to revisit the emotions from a past relationship before starting a new one, but after showing it to a test audience, he realized people were ready to move forward and were excited about the current situation without needing a reminder of the past.

Wicked: For Good is released in cinemas on 21 November.
