Okay, so I’m super hyped because *Wicked: For Good* is hitting theaters in just over a month! The director, Jon M. Chu, just dropped a hint that a major star is joining the cast. Basically, it’s the sequel to *Wicked*, and Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are coming back as Elphaba and Glinda – get ready for an epic finale!
Okay, I’m SO excited for the finale! Chu just dropped a little hint about who’s going to voice the Cowardly Lion, and it’s amazing! He said he actually messaged a really big star on Instagram and convinced them to take on the role. I can’t wait to find out who it is!
Chu didn’t say who the celebrity was, but he expects a lot of excitement when their name is announced on the red carpet.

Chu explained that he casually asked if the other person had a few minutes to record some lines, acknowledging they were likely busy and offering to go to them. The response, according to Chu, was an enthusiastic, ‘Sure, let’s do it!’ and they immediately began recording, as he shared with Deadline.

Everyone is eager to find out the identity of the masked singer known as ‘The Lion.’ Many fans believe it could be Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has expressed a desire to be in the musical *Wicked*.
The actor known for *Hamilton* auditioned for the 2024 movie *Wicked*, but wasn’t chosen. He revealed last February that filmmakers felt his presence in the film would have drawn too much attention away from the story.
It’s likely a good idea to have Miranda voice the Lion instead of appearing on camera – that would be much less distracting.
So far, several actors have been mentioned as possibilities, including Stephen Fry, Jack Black, JK Simmons, and Lewis Pullman, who recently appeared in *Thunderbolts*.
Broadway star Alex Brightman, who played Wicked‘s Boq on stage, has also been considered.
Even before the voice actor is revealed, the movie sequel has broken records, selling more first-day tickets on Fandango than any other film scheduled for release in 2025.
Wicked: For Good will land in UK cinemas on 21 November.
