Wicked: For Good fans “livid” as it’s completely blanked at the Oscars with ZERO nominations

The Oscar nominations are out, and fans of the movie Wicked: For Good were surprised that the musical adaptation, directed by John M. Chu, didn’t receive any nominations.

The awards season is now underway, building up to the highly anticipated Oscars. Hosted by Conan O’Brien, the ceremony will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 15th.

Ryan Coogler’s horror film, Sinners, achieved a record-breaking 16 nominations, surpassing the previous high of 14 shared by All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land. Meanwhile, Wicked: For Good didn’t manage to overcome the typical challenges faced by movie sequels.

Despite a Golden Globe nomination, Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t nominated for an Oscar for her powerful performance as a woman dealing with postpartum depression in the film Die My Love. She previously won an Oscar in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.

Amanda Seyfried was also overlooked for an Oscar nomination, despite receiving nominations for the same role at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards this year. The role was in the film The Testament of Ann Lee.

Julia Roberts was also notably absent from the nominations for Lead Actress, announced by Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks. Despite receiving a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the drama After the Hunt, the film itself didn’t receive any Oscar nominations.

Dwayne Johnson and Paul Mescal weren’t nominated for Best Actor despite strong performances as Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine and William Shakespeare in Hamnet.

The movie about MMA fighter Kerr received an Academy Award nomination for Best Makeup and Hairstyling. Meanwhile, Chloé Zhao’s film Hamnet earned a total of 8 nominations, including top categories like Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress, with Jessie Buckley as the frontrunner.
