Wicked finally confirms streaming release date – and it will include sing-along version

If you’re eagerly anticipating another chance to savor the enchantment of Wicked through streaming, or if you missed it at the cinema and want to catch up, here’s something exciting: We have some great news!

The musical adaptation finally has a streaming date — though there’s a catch.

Jon M Chu’s Oscar-nominated movie, titled “Wicked,” is set to premiere on Peacock on March 21st. Since Peacock is only accessible within the United States and some U.S territories at the moment, international fans of “Wicked” will have to wait for further release announcements.

The upcoming movie will soon join Sky Cinema’s collection, but the specific date for its release has not been announced as of now in the United Kingdom.

For now, you can stream or buy the film digitally on several services like Prime Video. You can also obtain it physically through DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K versions available on Amazon.

For those based in the US, however, Peacock has some bonus content in store.

An extra option is available, which is a karaoke version of the film – ideal for individuals who found it hard to suppress their urge to belt out “Defying Gravity” during cinema screenings.

Additional material coming with the streaming debut of NBC’s special “Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked” will provide fans with an enhanced experience, including a peek into the filmmaking process of “Making Wicked.

In addition to the main content, you’ll find two behind-the-scenes segments featuring director Alice Brooks and cinematographer, plus some exclusive podcast discussions. Also included are a number of cut and extended scenes that didn’t make it into the final edit.

I can hardly contain my excitement as we approach the eleventh month of the year, with “Wicked: For Good” set to grace our movie screens in November. Recently, there’s been buzz about me, Alisha Weir, being cast as Dorothy Gale in the upcoming sequel. While I can’t officially confirm anything just yet, I must say, the thought of stepping into those iconic ruby slippers is beyond exciting!

At the recent IFTA Awards, while chatting with RTÉ, I couldn’t help but share my initial reaction to that wild rumor that had been spreading like wildfire on social media. Everyone seemed curious about it, so I found myself fielding questions left and right.

“I mean that would be wonderful.”

Starting March 21, you can stream the movie “Wicked” on Peacock in the U.S. The release date for streaming it in the UK has yet to be announced. However, if you’re in the UK, you can purchase or rent the film on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store, and other platforms.

Wicked: For Good will be released on November 22.
