Wicked fans already furious over scene with Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey – weeks before release
As a die-hard fan of musicals, particularly the magical world of Oz, I eagerly await the release of Wicked, the origin story that delves into the friendship between Elphaba and Glinda. Having grown up watching The Wizard of Oz, this prequel holds a special place in my heart.
Fervent admirers were enraged prematurely, upon the leak of a fresh scene starring Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey – several weeks prior to its official unveiling.
The scene showed Grande – who plays Glinda The Good Witch – and Fiyero Tigelaar star Bailey performing Dancing Through Life.
In the video, they can be observed enthusiastically singing their hearts out and hugging – however, viewers swiftly moved to social media platform X to criticize the ‘subpar lighting’ and labeled it more like a reality TV series than a big-budget Hollywood movie.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but express my frustration: The lighting here feels more suited for a gritty reality series rather than the enchanting world of music that I adore.
‘There’s such an abundance of light, yet it seems devoid of color.’

Who takes care of the lighting here?
‘Like looks like a toxic situationship in the making.’
Others commended the video with comments like: “She appears incredibly joyful, it seems she’s been eagerly waiting for this role; I’m genuinely thrilled for her success.
‘beautiful couple and beautiful dance.’
The movie is about an unlikely friendship that emerges between Elphaba and Glinda, two clashing witches in the magical land of Oz.
In the story, it’s unjust that Elphaba is portrayed as an evil sorceress because her mission is to reveal the truth about the deceitful and corrupt ruler of the realm.
Wicked is the origin story of ‘a green-skinned woman who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.’
This story acts as an origin tale for “The Wizard of Oz,” focusing on events preceding Dorothy’s arrival and unveiling the past bond between the characters Elphaba and Glinda.

In the upcoming days, the stars are set to kick off their media tour. The inaugural event, a premiere, is scheduled for next weekend, specifically on November 3, in Sydney, Australia.
On November 27, Wicked is set to be released, followed by Wicked Part Two exactly a year later.
