Wicked credit scenes explained – how many are there?
As a long-time fan of Broadway musicals and a devoted follower of Ariana Grande’s career, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Wicked. Having grown up with the original cast recording, I was thrilled to see the beloved story brought to life on the big screen.
The musical “Wicked” is now playing in movie theaters, however, it’s important to note that it’s a two-part film adaption, which has been anticipated for some time.
Simultaneously produced, the two films will be released, and “Wicked: Part 2” hits theaters in November. It’s understandable if one might think there was a sneak peek of what’s to come after the end credits for “Wicked.
Here’s where we step in, providing you with the comprehensive and essential guide for Wicked credit scenes, covering everything you should know, including the number of scenes that appear after the credits roll.
And don’t worry, there are no spoilers ahead.
How many credit scenes does Wicked have?
It is assured that there are no additional scenes following the end credits for you to wait for when watching Wicked.
If you wish to save a bit of time from the lengthy 2 hours and 40 minutes, you might consider departing once the “to be continued” appears. However, by doing so, you’d forgo enjoying additional parts of the film’s soundtrack.
It might not be surprising that we didn’t see a “Wicked” credit scene, given that composer Stephen Schwartz mentioned that the song “Defying Gravity” played a role in the decision to adapt the story into two parts.
He pointed out in July 2022 that finding a suitable pause after ‘Defying Gravity’ proved challenging, as this song is crafted to end a performance. Any scene that followed without a break felt surprisingly underwhelming due to its lack of climax.
If they felt that extending the tale would be overly anticlimactic, it’s quite logical to assume that any post-credits scene would have fallen flat as well, given the powerful impact of “Defying Gravity”.
There is one notable aspect of Wicked‘s credits though that you might notice.
Ariana Grande, also known as Ariana Grande-Butera, has referred to this name as “little Ari’s name.” She expressed that this stage of her life feels like a return to her roots, stating, “I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me.
I found a sense of self-realization in many aspects through Glinda’s teachings, as well as Elphaba’s experiences. And since ‘Elphaba’ was my character name when I first saw the show at age 10, it felt like a heartwarming way to pay tribute to that moment.
Wicked is out now in cinemas.
