Wicked Co-Stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Share Hilarious Behind-the-Scenes Moments

On Monday, I found myself giggling uncontrollably alongside the incredible Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo during a Q&A session hosted by Variety at the Directors Guild of America. What a delightful experience it was!

In a lighthearted exchange, the stars of the Wicked movie reminisced about amusing backstage anecdotes during filming, while discussing the upcoming sequel on stage.

Ariana, aged 31 and portraying the character Glinda, exuded sophistication while wearing a sleek, strapless black dress paired with imposing black heels, as she gracefully made her entrance onto the stage.

In a stylish black two-piece outfit and thick-soled green high boots, Cynthia, aged 38, embodied the character of Elphaba.

Ariana and Cynthia found it hard to hold back their chuckles while reminiscing about the disorganized period during the filming of Defying Gravity on location.

According to a spectator’s recording on X, Ariana mentioned: ‘In brief, we were shooting Defying Gravity.’

‘And two things happened right before that shot. 

During our midday break, we found an unusual amount of onions in our meal, causing Cynthia to react as if she were experiencing a heart episode. Additionally, I accidentally burned my rear end on the steamer.

‘So just know next time that you see the broom shot…’

Cynthia mentioned, “I can hardly stand the smell of all these onions,” and Ariana jokingly said, “My backside is feeling the heat.

The next time you glance at that photo, you might notice an ice pack was used during breaks, and she had been dealing with onions causing discomfort. And that wraps up our tale. Ariana chuckled.

Following the disclosure by Cynthia about the specific instant she learned she had been nominated for the Best Actress award at the forthcoming Oscars event, she also divulged the heartfelt response of her Wicked co-star Ariana upon receiving her own nomination.

While I was jetting off from bustling London to snowy Utah last month, the exciting news I’d been waiting for broke.

And the actress nearly missed the moment due to WiFi issues on her plane.

At The Elvis Suite hosted by Darling & Co. in Park City, Utah, Cynthia told Elvis Mitchell, the host, that the plane’s services initially failed for a couple of minutes following takeoff.

Upon ascending, my relief was palpable when the Wi-Fi resumed functioning again. Yet, my nerves were too jittery to browse through the nomination list at that moment.

She remembered that as we began to depart, the Wi-Fi activated, so she logged onto it, as reported by a DailyMail.com journalist who was present at the event.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I prefer to immerse myself fully in each moment before delving into the next. Therefore, when I’m not engaged, you might find me briefly stepping away from my phone, allowing me to remain connected only when I have a clear understanding of what’s transpiring around me.

As a devoted user, I’ve successfully connected to the WiFi. Should anything be received, I’m confident I’ll recognize it, as notifications or updates will become visible for me to see.

Whenever Cynthia realized there were no developments, she opted to engage in activities to keep her mind off it.

At Firewood restaurant, the performer revealed to a small audience that she opted for appearing on a rather unfavorable reality TV program, hoping it would help her drift off to sleep.

She glanced at her phone and saw no activity. It seemed like around 1:45 or so, she said. “This is awful, this is a nightmare!” she exclaimed.

About five minutes before 2 a.m., my phone started making a ruckus. I had only just drifted off to sleep, but the sudden noise from my phone woke me up.

As I was about to doze off around 2 a.m., my phone began to act strangely. I hadn’t been asleep for long when it started making a fuss, waking me up.

After receiving numerous heartfelt messages from her dear ones celebrating her nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Cynthia couldn’t help but break down and cry.

She confided that she had wept profusely, expressing it as a moment when she felt something like, “I hadn’t realized just how deeply I yearned for it.

It turned out that I underestimated its significance for me. Now that it has happened, I truly understand how significant it is, just as you do.
