Why your Netflix is about to cost you more each month
Netflix has increased prices for UK users – and has revealed the reason why.
A year ago, in October 2023, the streaming platform increased its prices in Britain. However, they’ve recently made another announcement about an increase.
Here’s a simpler way of expressing that information:
“The cost for The Standard plan with ads has risen from £4.99 to £5.99 per month, whereas the price for The Standard plan without ads has increased by £2 to £12.99 per month. Lastly, the Premium tier is now £1 more expensive at £18.99 per month.”
Netflix stated their intention to “keep pouring resources into producing content and enhancing the experience for our subscribers”. They mentioned that on occasion, they may need to slightly increase costs from their members to allow them to reinvest and make Netflix even better.
As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news! The streamer has just announced expansions into new territories such as the US, Canada, Argentina, and Portugal. The subscription prices for these regions are expected to be within the bracket of $1 to $3. This is truly a momentous step forward for the streaming platform!
The last trek took place towards the end of 2023, following a clampdown on password sharing that resulted in an increase of 8.8 million new subscribers.
In a similar vein, Netflix stated that their decision was aimed at catering to diverse needs and as they continue to enhance member experiences, they occasionally increase subscription fees.
2024’s late period witnessed a record-breaking surge in Netflix users, with approximately 19 million new subscribers joining the platform.
This occurred partly because of significant events like the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, football games (NFL), and the resurgence of the show “Squid Game”.
In his recent remarks, Ted Sarandos advised that when requesting a price increase, it’s essential to ensure you possess both the necessary resources (goods) and the strong relationship (engagement) to support your case.
