Why would Milius want Wilford dead in Snowpiercer?

As a die-hard Snowpiercer fan with over a decade of binge-watching and theory-crafting under my belt, I can confidently say that the latest twist in Milius’s storyline has me on the edge of my seat! It’s like Toby Whithouse himself is reading my thoughts and weaving them into the narrative.

Without a doubt, the last season of Snowpiercer is packed with action! It’s also filled with many unanswered questions, such as the current mystery surrounding Milius.

So far in the narrative, it’s been evident that Milius has been orchestrating his own scheme. His goal was to acquire Big Alice, and he devised a trap to lure Layton and Big Alice towards him. However, as we suspected, there was someone else pulling the strings. And lo and behold, our suspicions were correct. Wilford has returned and it’s him who covets Big Alice.

In the fifth episode of Snowpiercer’s fourth season, we discovered that Milius rescued Wilford from the tracks. Currently, they appear to collaborate, but there are signs suggesting that Milius may regret this alliance. He instructed Wolf to eliminate Wilford in the underground area.

It appears that Wolf did not follow through on his plan. This implies that Wilford could pose a greater danger to Milius than Milius had anticipated. A key point for consideration, however, is what motivates Milius to want Wilford eliminated.

Wilford has the power to sway Milius’s men in Snowpiercer

Initially, let’s examine the characteristics of leader Milius. He exhibits traits of a tyrant, similar to Wilford. His actions suggest narcissism, demanding obedience from everyone. It’s evident that he treats his men as experimental subjects, which may lead to disloyalty among them.

In the latest event, it became evident that Milius was displeased as Wilford regaled Milius’s soldiers with an amusing tale. To assert his authority, Milius punished one of his soldiers for Wilford’s smoking act, which served as a clear demonstration of dominance. This action left everyone feeling uneasy.

Milius recognized that Wilford possessed a charisma he lacked. If a conflict should arise, Wilford could persuade Milius’s followers to align with him, a scenario Milius would not welcome. To avoid this, Milius decided it was best for Wilford to leave.

Wilford is going to be stuck in the silo for a while in Snowpiercer

Milius realizes there’s an issue with the present state of affairs. Originally, when he rescued Wilford, they aimed to reach Big Alice. Milius likely believed Wilford would take Big Alice and depart. Whether that was the original plan or not isn’t crucial now. The fact remains that Big Alice is no longer there.

From now on, Milius finds himself in a situation where he’ll be with Wilford for some time. It seems more likely that Milius wishes to eliminate Wilford rather than handle him. Previously, we observed that Milius considered Layton unnecessary and kept him in the basement. However, compared to Wilford, Layton appears less threatening and less irritating, which could be why Layton is still alive.

If Wolf disobeys the commands, it’s likely that he’ll face some form of torment or punishment. What exact fate awaits him, though, remains unclear. Could he also find himself confined to the basement?
