The new movie, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, came out on Netflix today, but unfortunately, viewers in the UK won’t be able to watch it on the streaming service at the moment.
So, just like with 28 Years Later, The Bone Temple hit Netflix first! It seems like all Sony movies end up there about three months after they leave theaters. This one actually came to Netflix a little faster than usual, and I’m guessing that’s because it didn’t do quite as well in the box office. It’s all thanks to that deal Sony has with Netflix here in the US.
As a movie fan in the UK, I was a bit disappointed to hear the Sony-Netflix deal isn’t happening here. Luckily, Sony has a deal with Sky instead! That means Sky Cinema is where you’ll find Sony movies first, and if you’re a NOW member with a cinema pass, you’re all set too!
Fans in the UK will have to wait until around August 2026 to watch 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple on Sky Cinema. Typically, it takes about seven months for the film to become available on the streaming service after its theatrical release.

Things are starting to shift, though. Just recently, in January, Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment made a groundbreaking agreement: new Sony movies will now debut on Netflix as the primary streaming service globally.
Sony’s new agreement will launch gradually throughout the year as rights become available in different regions, with full worldwide access expected by early 2029. While Sony extended its contract with Sky in May 2023 for several years, the exact end date of that deal is unknown. Once the Sky agreement ends, Netflix will be the first streaming service to offer new Sony content in the United Kingdom.
