A recent report explains why Thor and Captain America join forces in Avengers: Doomsday. It suggests they’ll be working on a separate mission that involves someone connected to the multiverse.
Thor and Steve said to find Loki in Avengers: Doomsday
A new storyline in the upcoming Avengers film, currently titled ‘Doomsday,’ will see Thor and Captain America embark on a separate mission to locate Loki. According to insider @MyTimeToShineHello, this search for Loki will run parallel to the main Avengers plot. Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki for the film.
According to the same source, Thor and Captain America are already aboard the Fantastic Four’s ship with Doctor Doom before the story officially begins in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This means they’ll be connected to Doom from the start and appear to be involved in events leading up to the main conflict, possibly related to finding Loki.
I’m so excited! Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are reprising their roles as Thor and Captain America, and Robert Downey Jr. is taking on the role of Doctor Doom! Apparently, this version of Doom has a whole team of masked helpers – both men and women – and no one knows who they are yet. There’s a lot of speculation that they might be alternate versions of characters we already know, or dedicated followers, and some people even think we might see them reveal themselves as characters like Scarlet Witch or even Tony Stark! It’s going to be incredible!
The movie boasts a mix of familiar and new faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston are back, joined by newcomers Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, and Lewis Pullman. We’ll also see returning supporting characters like India Rose Hemsworth as Love, Mabel Cadena as Namora, and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter.
As a huge Marvel fan, I’m so excited for the next phase! The Russo Brothers are directing ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and the script is being written by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. We’re looking at a December 18, 2026 release, and then ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is coming the following year on December 17, 2027. From what I’ve heard, it’s going to dive deep into the multiverse – think alternate versions of our favorite characters and a big focus on Doctor Doom becoming a major threat. It sounds epic!
