The stars of Hannah Montana came together for a special celebrating the show’s 20th anniversary, but one familiar face wasn’t there. In the one-hour documentary, Miley Cyrus, who played Hannah Montana herself, chatted with Alex Cooper from the Call Her Daddy podcast about the show and what it meant to viewers.
The Disney+ project included a look behind the scenes, sets rebuilt from the original show, and a special performance by Miley Cyrus singing classic songs like ‘The Best of Both Worlds’ and ‘The Climb’.
The episode also featured some recognizable guests, like Cyrus’s parents, Billy Ray and Tish, as well as singer Selena Gomez.

Emily Osment, who played Lilly Truscott on the show, wasn’t able to join the special. She shared on social media that it was due to conflicts with her current filming schedule for Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.
In a video on Instagram, Osment shared how Hannah Montana had a profound impact on her life. She explained that the show instilled in her a lasting appreciation for comedy, and taught her valuable skills like discipline, patience, and timing, all while navigating a professional environment at a young age.

It’s hard to express how much your kind words mean to me. I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked on such an amazing and groundbreaking TV show – it was a truly special experience.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my work with you, and I hope to continue doing so for years to come. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support, and I’m thrilled to be working on another show that I truly love.
Mitchell Musso, known for his role as Oliver Oken, wasn’t in the special either. He didn’t explain why, but he did share a heartfelt message on Instagram about how much the show meant to him.
“Hannah Montana wrapped around my heart and never really let go. We literally grew up with ya’ll — long days, crazy schedules, learning lines, cracking up between takes and figuring out life while the cameras rolled,” he wrote.
I learned a lot of valuable lessons, but the most important one for me is that laughter can help you overcome difficult times. That feeling of strength and self-assurance continues to impact my life daily.
As my daughter, Lillypop, mentioned in her post, it means the world to me seeing so many of you start families and share this incredible journey with your children. It’s honestly been the most rewarding part of creating this community.
To Miley, Emily, Jason, Billy Ray, Moisés, and everyone at Disney – you all became like family to me through all the ups and downs, the good and the bad. Thank you for taking a chance on a silly kid from Texas with a strange sense of style and a questionable haircut.
Thank you for letting me into your lives for the past 20 years. I’m so grateful for your continued support and I’m honored to share this journey with all of you.
Jason Earles, Moisés Arias, Shanica Knowles, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, and Cody Linley were among the cast members who showed up for the premiere of the special.
The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is available to stream on Disney+.
Okay, so the latest issue of Living Legends just dropped, and it’s all about Harry Styles! It’s a huge 100-page, full-color magazine, and I just grabbed my copy. You can find it at most newsstands or order it online if you’re looking to get your hands on it.
