For eleven years, Unforgotten has been a flagship drama for ITV, consistently delivering strong ratings, and it continues to be a success.
The series initially featured Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhaskar as detectives who worked well together, focusing on solving old murder cases with empathy and dedication, rather than relying on typical mismatched-partner tropes.
After Walker’s departure, Sinéad Keenan took over as head of the squad DCI Jess James.

Although she was initially struggling after discovering her husband’s affair with her sister, she quickly regained her composure and approached her work with the intelligence and understanding everyone had grown to appreciate. She also managed to build a professional and respectful working relationship with DI Khan (Bhaskar).
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming seventh season.

What can we expect from Season 7 of Unforgotten?
ITV has hinted that the next season will focus on a difficult and moving unsolved case – something the show always delivers. As usual, we can also expect a fresh group of new characters to play important roles.
The show previously starred a fantastic cast including Mark Bonnar, Tom Courtenay, Lorraine Ashbourne, Adeel Akhtar, Bernard Hill, Neil Morrissey, Alex Jennings, James Fleet, Sheila Hancock, and Trevor Eve, making this season a tough act to follow.
Sophie Rundle, currently appearing in ITV’s After the Flood, will play a stressed social worker in the upcoming series. Joining her are new cast members Julian Rhind-Tutt (known from Green Wing), Kirsty J Curtis (Joan), and Natalie Simpson (Trigger Point).
The show consistently begins with the discovery of a body or crucial clue somewhere in the UK, but quickly moves past the initial finding. This discovery unravels long-held secrets and changes how we see the characters. It becomes difficult to tell who is innocent and who is guilty until everything finally clicks into place at the very end.

Chris Lang, the creator and executive producer of Unforgotten, expressed his excitement about returning for another series. He’s thrilled to continue following detectives Sunny and Jess as they investigate a new cold case with their team. Lang notes that Unforgotten is a show that challenges viewers to pay close attention and engage with intricate storylines and themes, and he’s thankful for the show’s dedicated and large audience.
Huw Kennair Jones, ITV’s Drama Commissioner, announced that a seventh series of the popular drama Unforgotten is in production. He praised the show’s compelling new storyline and characters, created by Chris Lang, alongside the returning leads Jess and Sunny. Jones also highlighted the excellent work of Mainstreet Pictures and expressed ITV’s excitement to share the new series with viewers on ITV and ITVX, anticipating it will be as captivating as previous installments.
Unforgotten season 7 cast: who’s in it this year?
The cast includes Sinéad Keenan as DCI Jess James, Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunny Khan, Jordan Long as DS Murray Boulting, Carolina Main as DS Fran Lingley, Pippa Nixon as DC Kaz Willets, Sophie Rundle as Mary Brock, Kirsty J Curtis as Lacee Cook, Julian Rhind-Tutt as Hugh Swafham, and Natalie Simpson as Ruby Allenford.

When can I watch Unforgotten season 7?

The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and it’s dedicated to the incredible Dolly Parton! You can find “Dolly at 80” at newsagents and online for only £8.99.
