Why Sydney Sweeney attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding despite ‘not being friends with either of them’

The wedding of Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder, and Lauren Sanchez in Venice, Italy was a celebrity-packed event, brimming with notable figures.

The invited attendees ranged from the likes of Orlando Bloom, Scooter Braun, and Kim Kardashian, among others.

Among the unexpected celebrities seen in Venice recently was actress Sydney Sweeney, who left people puzzled as she didn’t seem to have a close friendship with either the bride or the groom.

During the celebrations, the 27-year-old gained attention by socializing with celebrities such as Tom Brady and the newly single Orlando Bloom.

Nevertheless, her attendance at the extravagant $50 million wedding raised eyebrows for many, but recently published information provides insight into why she was invited in the first place.

The latest report from Page Six suggests that Sweeney’s appearance was a gesture of respect towards her potential superior, Bezos.

In the vibrant month of March, I found myself joining an exciting venture – stepping into the virtual world to bring to life the captivating video game adaptation of the recent literary sensation, Split Fiction.

Under Jon M. Chu’s guidance, who previously worked on “Wicked,” the film is set to be scripted by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, well-known for their work on “Deadpool” and “Wolverine.

In early June, it appeared that Amazon MGM Studios took on the project, potentially resulting in an invitation being extended to Sweeney for Bezos’ wedding.

The source confessed about Sweeney, ‘he doesn’t maintain friendships with either of them‘, yet he clarified that she had visited to honor the “boss”, much like paying respects in the classic era of Hollywood.

In the imaginative realms of Split Fiction, writers Mio and Zoe find themselves unexpectedly immersed in the very stories they penned.

There seems to be some ambiguity about which of the two primary characters Sweeney will play, as it has been reported that Amazon is currently in the process of finding her counterpart for the role.

Sweeney is coming back to HBO’s show “Euphoria” as the character Cassie Howard, and she was just seen acting alongside Julianne Moore in “Echo Valley,” which aired on Apple TV Plus.

In an upcoming movie currently under post-production, she will portray trailblazing boxer Christy Martin, a renowned female fighter, with plans for the film’s release towards the end of this year.

Currently, Sweeney is unattached, having recently ended her engagement with producer and entrepreneur, Jonathan Davino.

In 2018, they began a romantic relationship, and he proposed marriage in 2022. However, they ended their engagement and cancelled the wedding in March 2025.

According to sources, they are experiencing some difficulties in their relationship and are currently reevaluating their bond.

The report mentioned that Sweeney was deeply affected by the wedding, and it didn’t sit well with her.
