Why Renée Zellweger Is Taking Her Time with Ant Anstead Despite Their Perfect Romance

This love tale could be straight out of a Bridget Jones film, yet contrary to our beloved character, it seems Renée Zellweger isn’t intending to promise ‘I do’ to her off-screen Mr. Darcy, sources suggest.

55-year-old Texan woman has been enamored by her British beau, Ant Anstead, 45, since their chance meeting and romantic blossoming on the TV series Celebrity IOU: Joyride, approximately four years back.

Twice-wed Anstead expresses eagerness for a third wedding, but those around Zellweger suggest she’s taking her time before considering another trip down the aisle. This comes 20 years after her brief marriage with Kenny Chesney ended due to ‘fraud’.

Friends speculate that she may be hesitant to get married because she’s concerned about disrupting a harmonious relationship, and fears giving in to the pressure to advance their bond might not be wise at this time.

A source revealed that Renée and Ant have been together for more than three years now, and she’s content with their current relationship status. She has observed numerous relationships, particularly those of celebrities such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who were happy while dating but split shortly after marriage.

Why might she choose to potentially upset things by hastily advancing her relationship with Ant?

The troubled marriage she entered with country singer Chesney in January 2005 seems to have had a negative impact on her, based on reports.

Five months after she met him, they tied the knot in the Virgin Islands.

But come the November, Zellweger had filed for an annulment, citing ‘fraud’.

According to the source, her short-lived marriage to Kenny Chesney didn’t turn out well for her and has left some of her friends with the impression that it may have negatively influenced her view on matrimony.

At the recent after-party for Renee Zellweger’s newest movie, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, host of For the Love of Cars, Anstead, appeared quite pleased to be in attendance alongside Zellweger.

After enjoying their celebration alongside Hugh Grant and his spouse Anna Elisabet Eberstein, the affectionate duo departed together, fueling speculation about an upcoming engagement, as Zellweger was seen wearing a bandage on her ring finger.

Zellweger tends to keep her personal life under wraps, but she has disclosed that she has relocated to Southern California, close to San Diego, as ‘that is the location of my partner and his son.’

The television host has a five-year-old son named Hudson with his former spouse, Christina Haack. At present, Christina is going through a divorce from her third husband, Josh Hall.

He also has daughter Amelie, 21, and son Archie, 18, with his ex-wife Louise Anstead.

The insider said Zellweger has a good relationship with Haack, with the trio happily co-parenting.

As an overjoyed admirer, I’d put it this way: “I’ve never seen Renée so content! Having Ant and his boy Hudson in her life has given her a family she always yearned for. Now that things are good between Ant and Christina, she’s thriving like never before!

Renee, unlike many Hollywood celebrities, is quite low-key and enjoys a relaxed lifestyle, avoiding unnecessary drama.

Over the span of several long, love-starved decades, I’ve found myself in my fair share of rocky romances, so it’s hardly shocking that Renee Zellweger might be wary of jeopardizing a precious connection.

In 2000, her breakup with fiancé Jim Carrey left her deeply wounded, and the heartache almost prevented her from accepting the Best Actress Golden Globe award for her performance in Nurse Betty.

In 2020, she shared with OK! that she had recently finished reading Bridget Jones and experienced a break-up. Feeling the need for a change, she decided to put on a dress and take action rather than just going to buy coffee in her usual jeans.

At the event, a thought crossed my mind: “I might as well step outside for a brief moment or dash to the restroom. I’d also like to apply some lipstick.” So, I headed to the bathroom and began applying my lipstick when suddenly I heard someone shouting, “Come here quickly!” It seems I missed the crucial moment if it weren’t for Hugh Grant extending his screen time on the stage.

Although their romance lasted just a year, from 1999 to 2000, following their encounter on the set of Me, Myself and Irene, it was evidently meaningful. Later on, in his 2020 autobiography Memoirs and Misinformation, Carey described Zellweger as ‘the greatest love I’ve ever known’.

Two years following her separation from the comedian, she had a short-lived relationship with Jack White, the frontman of the rock group The White Stripes, who was six years younger than her.

The seemingly unlikely pair hit it off while shooting the 2003 civil war epic Cold Mountain.

In the movie, a 49-year-old actor, who was also the white lead, portrayed Zellweger’s on-screen spouse. Interestingly, he was also tasked with composing music for the film, which eventually earned Zellweger an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Despite just one joint public outing, they decided to part ways following 1.5 years, stating emphatically that there was no underlying controversy and emphasizing that they continue to cherish their friendship.

Following this, came her unfortunate marriage with Chesney, the dissolution of which sparked intense debate about his sexual orientation when Zellweger accused him of fraud, leading to the annulment of their four-month relationship.

Approximately two years after, Chesney fiercely refuted rumors about his sexual orientation. He explained that they chose ‘deception’ as it seemed to be the ‘least damaging’ option to them.

The next year saw Zellweger crossing paths with actor Bradley Cooper on the set of Case 39, a psychological thriller. It is said that they began a relationship three years after that encounter. However, by 2011, their romance had come to an end, and gossip circulated suggesting his burgeoning Hollywood career was the cause.

Later, she began a romantic journey with guitarist Doyle Bramhall II, whom she referred to as a unique individual. However, their bond ended approximately in May 2019.

2021 finally brought a glimmer of hope for my beloved idol, as we found her gracing the screens of Anstead’s Discovery+ show that offers celebrity-reconditioned vehicles to those truly deserving in their circles. I couldn’t help but feel thrilled at this new chapter unfolding!

While Renee Zellweger was still mourning her friend and publicist Nanci Ryder, who passed away from ALS in 2020, she decided to join the show as a tribute to the twin brothers Jerome and Jerald Cowan, who had cared for Ryder till her last moments.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m delighted to share that after three months together, I decided to make my relationship with this remarkable individual official on Instagram by posting a captivating black-and-white selfie of us.

He shared insights into their extraordinary relationship during an interview on Extra, playfully suggesting that Celebrity IOU: Joyride served as a sort of matchmaking platform for them.

‘Renée’s really lovely… It’s really nice … It’s kind of amazing,’ he said.
