Why Ozzy Osbourne was ‘floored’ by daughter Kelly’s surprise engagement at Black Sabbath send-off – after her Slipknot star boyfriend asked for his permission to propose
For Ozzy Osbourne, it would prove to be the ‘perfect end to a perfect show.’
People from all over the globe are deeply saddened by the passing of the iconic rock musician, who was 76 years old and died in Birmingham on July 21. This occurred only a few weeks after his final performance with Black Sabbath at Villa Park stadium in the city.
Here, at the residence of his cherished Aston Villa, Osbourne witnessed an unexpected marriage proposal from boyfriend Sid Wilson to his daughter, Kelly.
The Slipknot band member knelt down in a gesture of respect, surrounded by family and companions – including Ozzy Osbourne, his spouse Sharon, and son Jack – who were unwinding backstage following Sabbath’s performance, which was witnessed by approximately 40,000 fans.
Yet, despite knowing a proposal was imminent, Osbourne didn’t anticipate that Wilson, father of Sidney (his partner, Kelly), would carry out the act at Villa Park.
After Kelly announced their engagement on social media, Sharon revealed that her husband was utterly surprised by the timing of his romantic act – calling it the “ideal conclusion” to his final performance.
When asked about their engagement by TMZ after Kelly’s post, Sharon disclosed that her husband was taken aback by the timing of his proposal – referring to it as the “perfect finale” to his swan song event.

She confessed that Wilson had previously informed her about the proposal, as she sought and received his approval to marry his daughter several months ago.
Instead, Wilson kept the plan to propose at Villa Park a secret from Osbourne, as he aimed to surprise him after the performance.
The video starts off with Sharon addressing the bustling backstage crowd, saying, “Please, keep it quiet!
As I stand before Kelly’s beloved parents, about to propose the most significant question of my life, a humorous remark slips from her father. He playfully says, “Well, I hope this is just a friendly visit and not a proposal for my dear daughter’s hand?
Expressing my deepest feelings for you, Kelly, I’d be thrilled beyond words if you’d consider spending eternity with me. As a token of this wish, I’ve crafted an exclusive Mouawad engagement ring, just for you.
‘So in front of your family and all of our friends, Kelly will you marry me?’
In the past three weeks, the lead singer of Black Sabbath took his place on a stage at Villa Park in Birmingham while seated on a throne.
On Tuesday evening, the family of the dearly departed Ozzy Osbourne expressed their profound grief in a statement, stating: “With heavier hearts than language can express, we regretfully inform you of the passing of our cherished Ozzy Osbourne this morning.

‘At the moment, he is in the company of his loved ones, enveloped by affection. We kindly request that everyone honors our family’s need for privacy during this sensitive period. This includes Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.’
This month, the musician gave a heartfelt goodbye to his audience on stage, as he once again played alongside his original Black Sabbath band members – Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward – for the first time since 2005.
In his closing remarks, Osbourne expressed that he couldn’t convey his feelings adequately, but wanted to express deep gratitude from the depths of his heart to the audience.
The musical icon promised that the show was truly his last, citing his health issues, as he publicly shared his struggle with Parkinson’s disease in 2020.

The star was an unrivaled musical giant who miraculously persevered through scandals that would have ruined many, and braved health issues that would have felled others.
Was known for his outrageous actions, which ranged from decapitating a bat and a dove, ingesting ants, desecrating a US war memorial while dressed in one of his wife Sharon’s gowns, Osbourne’s behavior – whether on or off stage – was notorious.
The musician, known for selling over 100 million records, is indelibly connected to the heavy metal group he established in his birthplace, Birmingham, back in 1969.
Black Sabbath, with songs like Iron Man, War Pigs, and Paranoid, gained significant popularity and controversy by incorporating occult themes. This was so much that a future pope criticized Ozzy Osbourne for allegedly using subliminal satanic influences.
