Why Nick’s Tragic Death in The Four Seasons Shocks Fans and Changes Everything
In simpler terms, Tracey Wigfield, a collaborator on “The Four Seasons,” shared insights regarding the ending of Episode 7’s plotline involving Nick (portrayed by Steve Carell). This Netflix series, titled “Something Borrowed, Something Blue,” is a romantic drama that Tina Fey has created. The story centers around three married couples whose friendships are strained when one couple (Nick and Anne) decides to divorce, causing tension in their relationships.
In “The Four Seasons”, Nick experiences a significant change of events. Having made the choice to part ways with Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver) through divorce, Nick subsequently encounters romance with Ginny (Erika Henningsen), a development that stirs up additional drama among his circle of friends.
The TV series titled “The Four Seasons” is a fresh take on the 1981 film of the same name, incorporating a unique angle concerning Nick’s sorrowful destiny. Within this production, we meet additional couples such as Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani), who are in an unconventional partnership, and Jack (Will Forte) and Kate (Tina Fey, known for her role in the SNL 50th Anniversary Reunion), who experience their own challenges within their marital relationship.
How Does Nick Die In Four Seasons Netflix?
In the seventh episode of “The Four Seasons,” Nick opts to celebrate winter break with Ginny and their youthful companions instead of his usual gang, who opted to ring in the New Year with Anne and her latest beau, Terry.
During the entire show, it’s evident that Nick feels uneasy about hanging out with Ginny’s younger group, instead, he spends his time chatting on video calls with his own buddies.
In response to Nick’s present condition causing an argument with Ginny, he tries to reconcile by visiting a nearby market to buy snacks that might appeal to both him and his friends as a peace offering towards Ginny.
In episode 7, the story concludes as Ginny phones Kate to share the heartbreaking update: Nick met his untimely demise in a car crash while on his way back to the ski resort.
Nick’s passing left a profound impact on his friends and relatives, primarily due to the fact that he acted as the bond that kept his social circle united.
Four Seasons Writers Explain Why Nick Got Killed In Episode 7
In an interview with TV Line, co-creator of “The Four Seasons,” Tracey Wigfield, discussed why Nick’s demise was necessary. She pointed out that it felt appropriate for the show to tackle such a serious topic like death to reinforce the notion that the risks and realities of life become more significant as one reaches middle age.
We carefully considered this choice. It felt appropriate because when we first conceived this series, we emphasized its human-sized scope without any murder mysteries. Instead, it depicted the trials of everyday life. However, as we grow older, these daily challenges encompass the reality of death. Often, it’s a parent who is dying or a peer who passes away. Given that our show revolves around lasting relationships and friendships, incorporating such themes into our narrative seemed fitting.
Due to Nick’s passing, his close circle of friends, including Kate, Danny, and several others, found it extremely difficult to cope. His ex-wife Anne, daughter Lila, and girlfriend Ginny were also deeply affected. In the final scene, they were shown huddled together, momentarily putting aside their marital disputes to pay tribute to their lost friend.
Although Nick has passed away, a hypothetical Season 2 might delve deeper into his influence due to the way Season 1 concluded.
In the final act, I discovered that Ginny is carrying Nick’s child, marking a fresh chapter in our lives as we formally join Anne’s family and circle of friends.
Since Anne and Ginny have differing views, it promises intrigue to delve deeper into the complex nature of their relationship as it unfolds in the future.
