Why Matt Damon has exited Ben Affleck’s new Netflix thriller with Gillian Anderson
Due to scheduling conflicts, Matt Damon is no longer involved in “Animals,” the latest movie directed by Ben Affleck.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t wait for the upcoming crime-thriller series on Netflix. From what I’ve heard, it tells the story of a mayoral candidate and his wife who find themselves in a nail-biting situation when their son gets kidnapped. With no other choices left, they’re forced to take matters into their own hands – and maybe get a little dirty in the process.
Through its social media platforms, Netflix revealed details about the upcoming movie, but surprisingly, Damon’s name was missing from the cast list.
The post on the @netflixfilm Instagram page announced that the upcoming thriller movie titled “Animals“, which is directed by Ben Affleck, will be available on Netflix soon.
In addition, it was made official that Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, and Steven Yeun will join the cast of Animals, along with Affleck, in this production.
According to Deadline, Damon’s leave-taking was due to scheduling conflicts, stemming from his part in Christopher Nolan’s movie, “The Odyssey.” Nevertheless, he will continue serving as a producer for the project.
Last year, it was mentioned that Jennifer Garner, Ben Affleck’s former spouse, might be collaborating with Matt Damon. Yet, as per the cast list published by Netflix, she is not included.
Affleck steps up as director after Damon’s departure, with a screenplay penned by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray. Production is slated to commence shortly in the city of Los Angeles.
Although we won’t have the chance to watch Ben Affleck and Matt Damon act together in “Animals“, these two actors will appear as partners in crime-thriller “RIP“, directed by Joe Carnahan, who has also worked on films like “The Grey” and “Copshop“.
In the forthcoming Netflix film, real-life incidents serve as its foundation, with the lead characters portraying police officers uncovering a vast sum of money hidden within an abandoned home.
With the dissolving confidence within their team and outsiders catching wind of their find, everything grows unclear – and there’s a question of who among them is genuinely reliable.
