Why isn't Chicago PD new tonight, and when will the series return? (Oct. 30)

As a long-time Chicago PD enthusiast and someone who has seen more than their fair share of ride-alongs with Burgess, I must say it’s a bit disheartening to miss an episode tonight due to the show’s brief break. However, as we all know, the broadcast networks have to juggle 22 episodes in nine months, so breaks are inevitable.

Without a shadow of a doubt, we’re eagerly anticipating Kiana Cook becoming part of the Intelligence team. However, we have to be patient since Chicago PD won’t air a new episode tonight, October 30.

As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but notice that the sneak peek of episode 6 hinted at a pause in the series. This preview made it crystal clear that there would be a short hiatus in the airing schedule.

Why isn’t Chicago PD on tonight?

Tonight, there won’t be a fresh episode from the series, but instead, you can catch a repeat of the first episode from Chicago PD‘s 12th season. This, along with the recent trailer release, seems to indicate that the hiatus is due to scheduling requirements. NBC doesn’t appear to have any other reason to pause the show this week.

It’s not all that unexpected, yet it’s still unfortunate. Broadcast networks must squeeze in 22 episodes within a span of nine months, which necessitates occasional pauses along the way.

Great news! The hiatus won’t last too long. The show will be back on your screens by November 6th, which is a Wednesday. This has been confirmed in the recent promotional materials.

What to expect in Chicago PD season 12, episode 6

In the upcoming episode, Burgess will progress further in her professional journey as she embarks on the final leg towards earning her detective badge. This involves a test ride-along to assess if she’s ready for detective work in the field. Despite her impressive track record, anticipate some challenges and dramatic twists that make this case particularly tough for Burgess.

Additionally, Cook will transfer to the Intelligence unit. She received an offer for this role at the end of the last episode, and her enthusiasm for it is evident. She’s tired of being on patrol and believes a move to Intelligence might not be feasible. However, Voight has the ability to manipulate things behind the scenes to make it happen.
