Why Is No One Talking About the Must-Watch Show Duster?

2025 TV lineup this year has been quite impressive, boasting shows like the mind-blowing and pulse-pounding “Adolescence”, the heart-racing and devilishly intense “The Last of Us”, and the hilariously insane “The Studio”. But let me tell you about a new show that’s simply amazing – it’s currently streaming exclusively on Max with a subscription. The show is called “Duster”, a ’70s crime thriller co-created by J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan, which I can’t stop raving about.

Exploring the chase between Jim “Duster” Ellis, portrayed by Josh Holloway, a cool-headed getaway driver, and FBI agent Nina Hayes, played by Rachel Hilson, as they pursue a formidable crime lord portrayed by Keith David, this series boasts an irresistible charm. Indeed, “Duster” exudes panache, and it has all the elements necessary to be hailed as one of the most impressive crime dramas in recent years. However, I’m puzzled because I haven’t come across many conversations about it, and I can’t seem to fathom why.

Duster Is Honestly Too Much Fun, And I’ve Been Hooked Since Starting

At present, I’ve only watched a few episodes of the series titled “Duster” (which debuted in May 2025), but let me tell you, it’s an absolute blast! Generally, I tend to be cautious about enjoying something too much and overindulging, but Josh Holloway’s collaboration with J.J. Abrams has me reconsidering that approach. If the entire season of “Duster” were available at once, I would have easily stayed up past my bedtime and consumed it all in one sitting. It’s just that entertaining!

The opening sequence, reminiscent of ’70s theme tunes, exudes a sense of style. The character of Holloway’s Jim Ellis and Rachel Hilson as a resolute FBI agent both contribute to an overall coolness that’s hard to ignore. There’s an air of grandeur about it too.

I Mean, There’s An Episode Where Jim ‘Duster’ Ellis Steals Elvis’ Blue Suede Shoes

In the second episode, character Jim “Duster” Ellis finds himself teaming up with a crime boss named Sunglasses, portrayed by Patrick Warburton from Seinfeld. The deal is that if Duster can manage to swipe Elvis’ iconic blue suede shoes from the King’s estate in Palm Springs, Sunglasses will lend his assistance as a getaway driver.

Initially, I assumed the series wouldn’t delve into such an unconventional plot point, with Duster trying to pilfer Elvis Presley’s legendary shoes for a shady crime lord operating from a bowling alley. But lo and behold, it unfolded on screen, and that’s when I understood this show was unlike any other.

That Said, I Can’t Figure Out Why No One Is Talking About This Show

Even though I’m deeply engrossed in the series “Duster“, it often feels like I’m the only one on this planet discussing its brilliance and my delight in watching it. There might be a few scattered articles, but there are no visible signs of the show being widely discussed or seen. Sadly, I haven’t encountered many people who’ve watched it, had conversations about it, or even noticed Max promoting it much. It’s unfortunate because the series is weaving an exceptional narrative with intriguing characters, and its unique cool factor is hard to beat at present.

Is the level of chill here overwhelming for some people? I certainly hope not, as I’d like this journey to continue long after the ongoing storyline in Season 1 comes to an end.
