Why Final Destination Bloodlines isn’t linked to the other five movies like you think it is

Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein have refuted a popular fan speculation, stating that the deceased in Final Destination: Bloodlines were not connected to the earlier films’ events.

In this movie, serving as the sixth entry in the horror series, we find ourselves tracking college student Stefani Reyes, portrayed by Kaitlyn Santa Juana. She’s beset by eerie visions and premonitions suggesting that Death is poised to claim her close ones.

In each movie of the series, a prophetic vision sparks off a sequence of events. However, the most recent installment introduced an unexpected turn as Stefani’s grandmother, who had earlier used her abilities to prevent a disaster in 1968, was involved.

Later in the story, you’ll notice a wall adorned with old newspapers, revealing details about the survivors, rather than the expected fatalities, from the catastrophe that occurred in 1968.

Some spectators wondered if the genealogy of the surviving characters might connect to those from prior episodes, but Lipovsky and Stein clarified to Collider that such a connection does not exist.

Lipovsky remarked, “We put a considerable amount of time into crafting that wall. If you’d like to pause and study it closely, there are many intricate details about what transpired there. However, I sense some uncertainty about the origins of Bloodlines within the broader franchise, and how it connects with the rest.

In our initial discussions, one point under debate was whether the early setting suggested this might be the precursor to other films. However, upon reflection, since no parents of the other characters had perished, we concluded that couldn’t possibly be the case.

Stein pointed out that such an action would go against the established narrative, as it would conflict with the timeline suggested by fans regarding the absence of parental figures in the first three movies of the series.

14 years after its predecessor, the movie “Bloodlines” has been well-received by both viewers and critics since its cinema debut on Friday. The film established a new milestone for the franchise, earning an impressive $51 million in the US during its opening weekend.

Additionally, Bloodlines boasts an exceptionally high approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 137 critic reviews, surpassing the highest score previously achieved by Final Destination 5 at 63%.
