Why epic disaster thriller The Great Flood is Netflix’s latest must-see blockbuster

Netflix just dropped the trailer for its upcoming Korean thriller, *The Great Flood*, and it appears to be a gripping and suspenseful series.

The trailer opens with An-na (Kim Da-mi) being awakened by her son. When she looks outside, she discovers the city is flooded and the relentless rain is causing the water levels to rise, quickly beginning to enter buildings.

The movie’s title and trailer make it clear: this isn’t a story about preventing the apocalypse, but about the final day itself.

What to Read Next

A secretive agent from a security team shows up at An-na’s apartment building and informs her she must come with him, explaining that her help is crucial to saving humanity.

The scene cuts between our main characters attempting to flee the tower and chaotic imagery: rockets launching, babies suspended in glowing tubes, and An-na receiving the daunting instruction to “begin a new human race.”

According to the official description, An-na is a scientist who studies artificial intelligence. The story is described as being highly imaginative and pushing the limits of what it means to survive.

Kim Byung-woo, known for directing films like *Take Point* and *Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy*, is also the director of *The Great Flood*.

Netflix recently dropped the trailer for *The Rip*, a new movie starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who are working together again.

I’m really excited about this new movie, *A House of Dynamite*, that’s coming to the streaming service next month! It’s actually hitting theaters for a little bit first, which is cool, and early reviews are looking *amazing*. Seriously, everyone’s saying it’s great, and I can’t wait to check it out.

The Great Flood comes to Netflix on 19 December.
