I’m so excited! Stranger Things is back for its last season, and the first part is finally here! We get to see the Hawkins crew tackling more of those crazy supernatural things they always do, still set in the ’80s. It’s a little weird though, because Holly Wheeler is now played by a different actress – Nell Fisher. Still can’t wait to see what happens!
The role was formerly played by twins Anniston and Tinsley Price, but this casting change isn’t related to their performance, or even the recent one-year leap forward in the storyline.
According to the Duffer brothers in an interview with ScreenRant, the character will have a bigger role in the fifth season, which is why this happened.

Matt explained that the reason for adding her to the cast will become clearer after viewers have watched the entire season.
We wanted to bring back some of the magic from the first season, and it’s hard to do that when our own children have grown up. A lot of that original feeling came from having young kids ourselves.
The characters have all grown up, so bringing in Holly and her classmates was a great way to revisit those youthful, fun times on the show.
Alyssa Fisher has worked on projects with horror elements before, including a role in the film Evil Dead Rise where she played one of the children of a central character.
Matt explained that Holly becoming more central to the story wasn’t part of the original plan for season 5; it evolved as they were developing the season.
We realized Holly would be a major focus of the season while we were developing season 5,” he explained.
Okay, so Holly’s already been super important in Season 5 – it turns out she was actually targeted by the Demogorgon and got snatched! It’s a big deal, and I’m already worried about what’s going to happen to her. It feels like this is going to be a huge plot point.
Max has been battling Vecna, who she previously thought was an imaginary friend named ‘Mr. Whatsit.’ She’s managed to regain control of her own mind, but it remains to be seen how important she’ll be as the story comes to a close.
The first part of Stranger Things season 5 is now available on Netflix. The second part will be released on Christmas Day, and the final part on New Year’s Eve (with a slight delay in the UK).
