It turns out that there’s a solid explanation as to why the live-action version of “How To Train Your Dragon” does not star David Tennant.
Previously, Tennant lent his voice to Spitelout Jorgenson, Snotlout’s father, in the animated film, but later, Peter Serafinowicz, who is known for voicing Darth Maul in “Star Wars: Episode I”, took over that role in the live-action version.
In explaining his choice, the filmmaker Dean DeBlois noted that Tennant’s physique did not align with the description of Spitelout, whom he referred to as large and muscular.
David Tennant’s acting skills are truly remarkable, and it made me feel awkward that we didn’t give him a more substantial part in our animated movies, as expressed by DeBlois to The Hollywood Reporter.
However, I found it hard to believe that David could convincingly portray Spitelout, who is Snotlout’s father and a massive, muscular character, given his physical stature.

As the live-action sequel of the dragon tale approaches, DeBlois hasn’t ruled out seeking an ideal role for Tennant.
In the future, perhaps we’ll discover a truly fitting character for him, given his exceptional acting skills, he remarked.
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but express my excitement for the reimagining of the 2010 animated movie, titled “How To Train Your Dragon.” This fresh take is inspired by Cressida Cowell’s 2003 novel of the same name. In this new version, I find myself rooting for Mason Thames as Hiccup and Nico Parker as Astrid, two characters whose adventures will undoubtedly captivate audiences once again.

Gerard Butler reappeared in the live-action adaptation following his voice work as Stoick the Vast, Hiccup’s father, in the animated series.
In addition to the main actors, Nick Frost, Gabriel Howell, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, and Harry Trevaldwyn are part of the ensemble cast for the upcoming film.
How To Train Your Dragon is in cinemas now.
