David and Victoria Beckham are worried their son Brooklyn will release a revealing biography detailing the difficulties in their marriage and how they’ve built their public image as a family, and they feel unable to prevent it.
Trouble between Brooklyn and his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, first became apparent in 2022 at his lavish wedding to Nicola Peltz in Palm Beach. Peltz is the daughter of a very wealthy American businessman who owns the Wendy’s restaurant chain, among other holdings.
However, the reasons for the distance between them go back much further, all the way to when Brooklyn Beckham first became famous. From a young age, his parents seem to have used him to improve their own wealth and status. As Brooklyn explains, he’s felt controlled by them for most of his life.
Born on March 4, 1999, Brooklyn was just four months old when his parents showcased him at their lavish wedding in Dublin.
Brooklyn, acting as both a special guest and ring bearer, charmed everyone with his adorable outfit – a miniature version of his father’s suit. This sweet detail was a hit with readers of OK! magazine, who paid £1 million for exclusive coverage of the event.
Brooklyn’s first birthday party, held at a Cheshire hotel in 2000 with over 100 guests, caused further upset.

It was definitely stressful trying to manage everything!
Rumors quickly spread about Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding. People started saying things like Nicola had a prenuptial agreement, spent a fortune—$83,000, to be exact—on her hair and makeup, and even complained that the wedding flowers weren’t white enough.
According to reports, the wedding day took a tense turn when Marc Anthony unexpectedly dedicated his first song – and kicked off the dancing – to Brooklyn and Victoria instead of the couple getting married. While details of exactly what happened are debated, it’s clear that this moment created significant friction.
Nicola made it clear she didn’t care for her new mother-in-law. She almost never ‘liked’ Victoria’s posts on social media – a small gesture that means a lot online. Out of 131 posts Victoria shared after the wedding, Nicola only approved five with a ‘like’.
It seems Victoria responded to the situation by deliberately overlooking the lavish wedding and honeymoon photos that appeared in Vogue magazine.
Rather than join his parents for the summer of 2022 on the Beckhams’ new boat, Brooklyn chose to sail the Mediterranean on Nelson Peltz’s yacht, emphasizing that his then-fiancée, Nicola, was his main focus. He even legally changed his name to Brooklyn Peltz Beckham to demonstrate his commitment.
If Victoria Beckham’s feelings were hurt, the situation was about to get much worse. In an interview with Grazia magazine, Nicola Peltz accused Posh of ignoring her, claiming Posh had promised to design a dress for her wedding but then backed out. This disagreement risked permanently damaging their relationship.
Victoria tried to mend fences in 2024 by inviting Nicola and Brooklyn to her Paris fashion show, but the gesture didn’t seem to resolve their issues.
