Why Big Bang Theory fans simply won’t want to miss this spinoff of one of the best sitcoms of all time

Beyond the original show, *The Big Bang Theory* has spawned successful spin-offs. *Young Sheldon* has been a major hit, and now *Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage* is also proving popular with viewers.

I’m so hyped for the new show, *Stuart Fails to Save the Universe*! Apparently, HBO and HBO Max’s boss, Casey Bloys, told *Deadline* it’s going to be seriously funny, so we definitely have something to look forward to!

The upcoming show centers around Stuart Bloom, a character viewers will recognize as the comic book store owner from the original series. Kevin Sussman will reprise his role as Stuart.

What to Read Next

The new HBO Max show, first discussed in 2023, will explore a different side of the story. Stuart accidentally breaks something and has to fix reality, and we’ll see alternate versions of familiar characters along the way.

The new animated series, *Stuart Fails to Save the Universe*, was created by the team behind *The Big Bang Theory* – Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady – along with Zak Penn, known for his work on films like *Ready Player One* and *Free Guy*. All three are credited as writers and executive producers.

Lorre recently shared that he was aiming for a bold new direction with the show, something that would challenge him creatively. He envisioned a project that the characters from *The Big Bang Theory* would have had strong, and likely conflicting, opinions on – they would have either loved it, hated it, or passionately debated it.

A month earlier, Lorre had announced they would be using a lot of computer-generated imagery. He explained that, for him, a large-scale production had always been relatively simple – like just two people having coffee on a couch!

This project is a departure for me. It’s a comedy that blends elements of science fiction and fantasy, and honestly, it’s a world I’m not familiar with – which is exactly what I wanted. I’m hoping to challenge myself with something new and learn along the way.

Penn explained that they started working on this wild show, set in a world imagined by Chuck and Bill. He added that he feels incredibly lucky to be collaborating with such talented individuals.

Prady said creating the series was incredibly enjoyable, and he’s confident that viewers will feel that positive energy when they watch it.

He explained that it’s really rewarding to take beloved characters from *The Big Bang Theory* and place them in a detailed science fiction world-one filled with the complex stories they enjoy-while still keeping the show’s humor intact.

What will happen in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe?

The new show, *Stuart Fails to Save the Universe*, centers around a comic store owner who must fix reality after he damages a machine created by Sheldon and Leonard, which inadvertently causes a multiversal apocalypse.

Stuart gets help on his journey from his girlfriend, Denise, a geologist friend named Bert, and Barry Kripke, a quantum physicist who’s notoriously difficult to deal with, according to the story’s description.

During their journey, the characters encounter different versions of familiar faces from *The Big Bang Theory*. And, as the title suggests, it doesn’t end happily.

Who is returning for Stuart Fails to Save the Universe?

Alongside Sussman as Stuart Bloom, other confirmed returning and new cast members are:
