A new season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is on its way, and it promises to be full of excitement! We can expect a big win for one contestant, but unfortunately, another will face a significant loss.
Since the popular quiz show returned to ITV in 2018 with Jeremy Clarkson hosting, only one person has won the £1 million prize: Donald Fear, in 2020. And he actually won quite easily, still having help options available when he answered the final question.
The popular show is coming back later this month for its 36th season, and ITV has hinted that two players will reach the final round. At least one of them will win the entire prize.

Wow, could we actually end up with two winners this season? That would be insane! It’d be the first time since 2001 that two people walked away with a million bucks in the same year. I remember hearing about Charles Ingram winning that year, but then they took his prize away, so it’s been a while!
It seems likely someone might leave with £500,000 instead of attempting the million-pound question, to avoid the risk of dropping down to £500,000. If they did choose to walk away, it makes you wonder if they actually knew the answer to the million-pound question.
What to Read Next
ITV has revealed more details about the next season, including a significant loss for one contestant – a staggering £186,000, which they’re calling the largest ever in the show’s history. This isn’t the only surprising event they’ve hinted at.
The player chose to play for £64,000, but then answered the £250,000 question wrong and lost most of their winnings.
While this was a significant loss, it wasn’t the largest ever on the show. Last year, Nicholas Bennett lost a massive £375,000. He correctly answered enough questions to win £500,000, but because he’d set a relatively low safety net of only £125,000, his winnings were reduced by 75% in an instant.

Jeremy Clarkson, who took over from Chris Tarrant as the show’s host, believes the latest season could be his best yet, describing it as having some truly tense and exciting moments.
It was amazing to see two contestants reach the million-pound question. The atmosphere in the studio during that final question is unbelievably tense – you can practically feel the pressure. I’m really excited for viewers to see it.
The latest season of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is coming to ITV1 later this month, and you can also watch it on ITVX.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can find it at newsstands or purchase it online.
