Who plays Knull in Venom: The Last Dance?

As a gamer with over two decades of comic book movie marathoning under my belt, I must say that “Venom: The Last Dance” has truly outdone itself. Knull, the newcomer to Sony’s Spider-Man universe, played by none other than Andy Serkis, is a masterstroke in casting.

“Venom: The Final Rumba” concludes the tale of Eddie and Venom, while simultaneously introducing a significant figure in Sony’s Spider-Man realm.

In the upcoming movie “Venom 3”, the character Knull, who was only recently introduced to comic books back in 2018, will make his live-action debut. After his own symbiote creations betrayed him, leaving him imprisoned on the planet Klyntar, he’s now on a mission to find a means of escape.

As a gamer, I’m on the hunt for a mysterious artifact known as the “Codex,” a vital key to my digital prison. I’ve dispatched an elite symbiote hunter, Xenophage, on a mission to Earth. The Codex is somehow connected to Eddie and Venom, but the details, you’ll have to unravel by watching the movie yourself!

If you’re curious about who will portray Knull in Venom 3, let us fill you in. However, be advised that some details could potentially spoil the movie for you, so if you prefer not to know anything before watching, it might be best to look away now.

Who plays Knull in Venom 3?

Andy Serkis, who is known for his role in the Venom trilogy, will be portraying the character Knull.

Originally, Serkis was set to direct “Venom 3,” but due to a scheduling conflict with his work on the adaptation of “Animal Farm,” Kelly Marcel, who previously co-wrote and solo-wrote both “Venom” and “Let There Be Carnage,” as well as “The Last Dance,” stepped up to make her directorial debut.

In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Marcel stated that Andy Serkis had been intended for the role of Knull since the sequel. She said, “He was the one we approached, and naturally, he was delighted and eager.

He is truly exceptional as a voice actor. Working with Knull, who combines mocap and CGI, was simply outstanding. It was reminiscent of an old reunion. Since Andy and I are pals, it was just a blast to hang out with him on this project. It felt like coming full circle in a way.

This is only just the start for Knull though, even if this is the final Venom movie.

We were always aware of Knull, but knew that we needed to lay the foundation of the Venom character, and his relationship with Eddie, before introducing him. This is just the beginning for Knull,” Marcel told IGN.

We understand very well that Knull holds significant value for fans, much like how Venom was established. Our intention is to set a similar foundation for Knull. The King in Black possesses an overpowering presence, making him far from a ‘one-time’ character. This film serves as the introduction to Knull, but only scratches the surface of his extensive storyline.

In this scenario, his function is similar to Thanos in The Avengers (or Avengers Assemble if you prefer), except instead of participating himself, Knull dispatches his followers to retrieve the codex since he’s confined on Klyntar, unable to act otherwise.

In other words, if Knull reappears in Sony’s Spider-Man universe (possibly in “Spider-Man 4”), it’s possible that a different actor could portray him, similar to how Josh Brolin replaced the role of Thanos from “Guardians of the Galaxy” onwards.

It’s certainly planned that we’ll see more of Knull going forward, but as with every plan, it’s not guaranteed. He does end the movie with an ominous warning: “Everyone will burn and you will watch.”

Better watch out, Spidey.
