Who Is Wednesday Season 2’s New Villain?

The official kickoff for the second season of Wednesday commenced in April 2025, teasing a fresh antagonist and Jenna Ortega’s cunning portrayal of Wednesday Addams continuing her mischievous ways. As the first season of Wednesday concludes, all students bid farewell to Nevermore at the end of the academic year, following the failed attempt by the previous villain to seize control and the incarceration of Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), who is sometimes referred to as a Hyde. By the time Wednesday returns to school, she will likely still be troubled by the fact that someone is keeping tabs on her.

As a devoted fan, I can’t contain my excitement as Wednesday returns for its season 2 premiere in August 2025! New faces joining the cast include Steven Buscemi, Thandiwe Newton, Christopher Lloyd, and none other than Lady Gaga, all adding their unique flair to the mix. It’s intriguing to note that, as Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) points out, Wednesday voluntarily stepping foot in a previous school is unprecedented. However, it’s not just about reconnecting with friends like Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday), or continuing her academic journey; this time around, Wednesday will undoubtedly be embroiled in a brain-tingling confrontation with a new antagonist, who seems to draw inspiration from the classics of horror lore.

Wednesday Season 2 Teases A Masked Villain Associated With Creepy Dolls

Wednesday Is Forced To Sit With A Table Of Horror Movie-Style Dolls

In the trailer for season 2 of Wednesday, there’s a scene where Wednesday is tied up and seated at a table filled with dolls in other chairs, in a dilapidated room. One of the dolls, with empty eyes, turns to gaze at her. Later, Wednesday stands up, holding a knife, and says, “Let’s play with dolls.” She also gives a doll to Enid, claiming that it has real human hair. Interestingly, this seems to be the same doll that was on her right side during the table setting.

In simpler terms, the trailer hints at a mysterious figure in a mask (the new villain) seemingly appearing out of thin air, as if seen from Wednesday’s point of view. This suggests that the dolls surrounding Wednesday might play a significant role in this season’s antagonistic scheme. Wednesday manages to break free and possibly destroys some of the dolls, but keeps one as evidence or a warning to Enid about the new villain’s abilities. Enid, however, interprets it as a gift, but Wednesday might be showing her proof of the villain’s power instead.

What Does The Doll Villain Want In Wednesday Season 2?

Wanting To Kill All The Outcasts Has Already Been Done, & Dolls Mean Something Else

In the second season of “Wednesday,” it appears they are delving deeper into horror, as suggested by Jenna Ortega. This time around, killer dolls remain a popular trope, but the Netflix sensation is also introducing a fresh human antagonist. With several A-list celebrities rumored to be joining the cast in undisclosed roles, it’s plausible that someone is manipulating the sinister toys this season. Consequently, the new installment could explore themes of twisted games and manipulation, potentially reversing the actions of the villain from the previous season.

Marilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates’ (Christina Ricci) strategy was quite clear-cut: revive her ancestor Joseph Crackstone (William Houston) and carry on his task of annihilating all outcasts. However, adding another villain with the same fundamental goal of eradicating outcasts, as they despise supernatural entities, could be repetitive. Instead, a more engaging and fittingly horrific twist could involve a villain who’s seeking a method to manipulate Nevermore’s student body (similar to possessed dolls) and create an army, the purpose of which is yet to be revealed.

Wednesday Season 2’s New Villain Hints At How Tyler Can Be Redeemed

Wednesday Season 2 Has A Greater Evil & Potentially A Parallel Storyline About Control

In this new season, we might encounter an old adversary making a comeback who was previously neutralized, but due to the emergence of a formidable, never-before-seen villain, the main characters find themselves seeking help from this former threat. In this case, it seems Tyler will reappear, given the trailer’s depiction of his Hyde monster form advancing menacingly towards Wednesday, only to halt before her, while she remains steadfast. Essentially, a powerful and challenging creature such as the Hyde could prove useful in battling an opponent with unique supernatural capabilities, especially when Wednesday might prefer to handle everything on her own.

In a similar vein, intricate connections might surface since we’re unsure about how much of Tyler’s actions from the previous season were self-driven, if the antagonist this time aims to dominate the thoughts of all residents at Nevermore. This uncertainty will make Wednesday and others question their assumptions. Additionally, the unexpected return of Tyler (possibly because Wednesday managed to free him from prison) is bound to leave everyone in shock. Meanwhile, Wednesday’s eerie traits such as her use of dolls, blood-curdling screams, and bleeding eyes that don’t seem to distress her are certainly living up to the horror imagery promised for this series; all that remains is a compelling narrative to go with it.
