Who is ‘Pyjama Man’? Australian who charged Ariana Grande at Wicked Singapore premiere is revealed

Ariana Grande had a frightening experience on Thursday when a fan suddenly approached her while she was walking the red carpet at the Singapore premiere of the movie Wicked: For Good.

The person behind the prank has been revealed to be Johnson Wen, an up-and-coming influencer from Australia known as ‘Pyjama Man’ on Instagram.

The 25-year-old is well-known for sneaking into concerts and events, where he bothers celebrities until security has to kick him out.

Most recently, he disrupted a Weeknd concert in Melbourne last August. Prior to that, in July, security removed him from the stage during a Chainsmokers concert in Sydney.

A month earlier, in June, he also ambushed Katy Perry on a Sydney stage. 

Let me tell you, Wen is not shy! He’s famous for his bold antics – it’s not just about crashing concerts or getting near celebrities. He’s actually run onto the field during major sporting events too! It’s a total disregard for the rules, but definitely makes for a story, right?

He caused disruptions at two major sporting events: he delayed the start of the 100m Olympic Final at the 2024 Paris Games by jumping over a barrier, and he interrupted the 2023 Cricket World Cup.

In the same year, he tried to run naked across the field during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, but he stumbled and was quickly removed by security.

Wen seems to enjoy attending events without an invitation, even referring to himself as an ‘invader’ and ‘the most hated troll’ online.

He posts videos of his daring acts and news coverage of them, along with footage of himself causing disturbances on trains and in public places like shopping malls.

The man who ran onto the field is also asking for money online. He’s linked a GoFundMe to his Instagram account, requesting that people donate to help him pay his bills.

Wen caused a stir this week by rushing at US singer Ariana Grande, 32, during the premiere of her new movie, Wicked 2.

The actress was walking with her co-star, Cynthia Erivo, who quickly stepped in front of her to protect her when a man ran towards them.

A video circulating online shows Wen aggressively approaching and grabbing Ariana Grande at Universal Studios, with Grande visibly trying to break free.

Before security could intervene, 38-year-old Cynthia Erivo, who stars as Elphaba in the movie, stepped in front of a man who was approaching her friend, seemingly attempting to shield her and yelling at him to stop.

It happened so fast! Suddenly, security swarmed him and just dragged him away. Poor Ariana was totally shaken up – I could see it on her face. Thankfully, Cynthia Erivo was right there to comfort her, and honestly, it was a relief to see Ariana not completely alone in that moment. It was awful!

He was dressed in a white T-shirt and shorts, and had long black hair with noticeable blue highlights.

Co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum were also walking with Grande at the time of the incident. 

Wen posted a video on his Instagram Story thanking Ariana Grande for allowing him to join her on the yellow carpet.

Strange videos taken before the incident show him expressing his lifelong dream of meeting the singer.

Looking up at a poster of Ariana Grande in ‘Wicked,’ Wen exclaimed, ‘This feels like a dream! I can’t believe I’m about to meet her.’

‘I’ve been dreaming about that,’ he added before doing a theatrical laugh.

Okay, so after all the drama with the on-stage incident, Wen actually shared a quick update on his Instagram Stories. He posted that he felt ‘free’ – can you believe it? – after Grande’s fans saw him being escorted offstage by security. It’s definitely a… unique take on the whole situation, and I’m seeing a lot of discussion about it online!
