A character silhouette, accompanied by the Roman numerals “XLV,” or “45,” was spotted on a banner within the playtest environment. Additionally, another image from the Stadium showcase depicted Hero 45’s sword, with the number “XLV” also appearing in this snapshot.

Shortly following the game’s Spotlight stream in February 2024, Reddit user P3runaama shared an intriguing image hinting at Hero 45. The image consisted of two parts: one depicted a sketch of the potential hero, and the other displayed a statue labeled “Magnus.

During a live stream on Twitch with content creator FroggerOW, Overwatch 2’s game director Aaron Keller suggested the prospect of a new hero, number 45. He mentioned that a melee-based character is something they are actively considering, stating that it is “definitely something we’re looking at.” Despite the challenges in designing melee heroes, he expressed confidence that “we’ve found a way to make it work.

Furthermore, as per another post by OWCavalry, it appears that Blizzard inadvertently hinted at Hero 45 through the use of placeholder text which read, “Gladiators will engage in gladiatorial combat.

For the moment, let’s wrap up. I must say, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm about the upcoming hero, number 45 in Overwatch 2!
