As a seasoned writer with a knack for storytelling, I find myself deeply intrigued by this recent legal tussle between Alanna Zabel and Jennifer Aniston’s yoga instructor, Lauren Sanchez. The allegations of plagiarism leveled against Sanchez in her children’s book are quite striking, particularly given the richness of ideas that seemingly abound in the realm of children’s literature.

This week, Lauren Sanchez hosted a book party for her novel, “The Fly That Flew To Space.” This occasion provided a glimpse into her close-knit group of friends.

Present were Kim and Khloe Kardashian, along with their mother Kris Jenner (also known as a ‘momager’), and Kathy Hilton, a former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member and mom to Paris Hilton.

Additionally, fashion model Miranda Kerr and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, formerly married to Tobey Maguire, were also spotted.

But there were many lesser known faces.

The group consisted of October Gonzalez, an actress from Modern Family, Victoria Trilling, a stylist, Kelly Sawyer, Co-CEO of Baby2Baby, another stylist named Jamie Mizrahi, Elena S Blair who specializes in photography coaching, and Tina Chen Craig, an entrepreneur.

Additionally, actress Xochitl Gomez, Elsa Marie Collins, the innovator behind The Ideateur (a firm specializing in social impact and civic consultation), and veterinarian from The Bachelor, Lucy Aragon, were also spotted.

Next was makeup artist Amanda Diaz, along with Laura Wasserman, formerly wedded to Casey Wasserman – the president of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Committee Organization.

Currently, Lauren finds herself facing a lawsuit brought on by her previous yoga teacher who claims that she copied his children’s book without permission.

In the court case obtained by TMZ, Alanna Zabel claims that Sánchez’s recently published children’s book “The Fly Who Flew To Space,” released in August, closely resembles her 2022 children’s book “Dharma Kitty Goes To Mars.

Prior to the release of Sánchez’s book, Zabel alleges he reached out to a prominent entertainment journalist in 2022 to propose a children’s book idea featuring a flying cat traveling to Mars.

According to the lawsuit filed by a yoga teacher who claims she instructed Sánchez between 2007 and 2010, it is alleged that the theft in question is linked to Sánchez’s persistent and shockingly envious behaviors throughout the years.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Zabel and a representative for Sanchez to request comment.

As a loyal devotee, I’m compelled to share my perspective on a recent controversy: I believe Sánchez may have borrowed sections from my book, not out of admiration or inspiration, but perhaps as a way of settling old scores. Over a decade ago, she and I had a falling out when I stepped down as her yoga instructor.

The teacher, who chose to file her lawsuit on her own, didn’t clarify the type of ‘envy’ that Mr. Sanchez is accused of showing.

Instead, she alleges that Sánchez has consistently aimed to emulate Zabel, portraying herself as an authentic, self-reliant, spirited, diligent, and community-focused yoga instructor.

According to her account, the connection might have provided a small advantage to charities linked with Bezos, since she asserts that the profits from the book would be channeled towards the Bezos Earth Fund and the Bezos Academy.

In 2020, Bezos allocated $10 billion to establish the Bezos Earth Fund. This fund provides financial aid for initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change and safeguarding natural habitats. Notably, it prioritizes projects that can be completed within this decade, focusing on immediate action rather than long-term speculation.

Jeff Bezos, a previous Amazon CEO, emphasizes the crucial role of preschool in a child’s growth through his organization, the Bezos Academy. Their mission is to establish Montessori-inspired preschools within underprivileged neighborhoods.

In April, Zabel expressed her anger when Sánchez disclosed her plans for a children’s book in January 2023, as reported to DailyMail.com.

‘I’m deeply offended, and I am taking legal action with the book,’ she said at the time.

Zabel mentioned that during her role as Sánchez’s tutor, she spent time at Sánchez’s home and expressed her passion for children’s literature to her. She also spoke about the possibility of collaborating with Sánchez’s brother, Michael, on writing a children’s book together.

She mentioned that she stopped working with Sánchez because of constant rumor-spreading, and furthermore expressed that she found her personality difficult to manage any longer. However, Zabel noted that they had maintained a friendly relationship in the following years.

In simpler terms, Zabel alleges that the author of the book has used over 60% of identical text and plot points, but it’s not clear how this percentage was calculated.

Indeed, TMZ points out that an impressive number of children’s books focusing on characters exploring space were published in the year 2024.

In the last year, numerous children’s stories have had insects as their leading figures.

As a devoted yogi, I take pride in sharing my practice with esteemed individuals such as Adam Levine from Maroon 5 and renowned author Deepak Chopra, who have entrusted me with their yoga journey.
