The live-action series One Piece is back with Season 2, and viewers are buzzing about the surprises from the first season’s ending. This new season is also making some changes to the story to better suit the live-action format. Interestingly, the series is hinting at the Pirate King’s family history much earlier than the original manga and anime. This has fans speculating about Gol D. Roger’s son – could it be Luffy, or is there another character involved?
Gol D Roger’s son, Portgas D. Ace, in One Piece, explained
Although some fans thought Luffy might be Gol D. Roger’s hidden son, that’s not true. Roger’s son is actually Portgas D. Ace, and Roger asked his enemy, Monkey D. Garp, to protect him.
Roger and Portgas D. Rouge had a son named Portgas D. Ace, but the Marines were relentlessly pursuing him. Facing a difficult situation, Roger turned to his rival, Garp, for help. Despite their rivalry, Garp agreed to protect Ace out of respect for Roger.
This big reveal happens in the Marineford arc in the anime and manga.
Currently, Ace isn’t included in the live-action series, and there are no plans to feature him in the second season.
According to recent reports, the character Ace will appear for the first time in the third season of the live-action series. Xolo Maridueña, who starred in Cobra Kai and Blue Beetle, is expected to play Ace, and the season may reveal a surprising detail about his family history and explore his past in more detail.
You can now watch all episodes of One Piece Season 2 on Netflix. Plus, Netflix has already greenlit a third season, even before Season 2 was released!
