Who is Callum Turner? The British actor heavily linked to James Bond role

Everyone in the movie world is wondering who will play James Bond next. While a director (Denis Villeneuve) and writer (Steven Knight) have been chosen for the next film, the actor to take on the 007 role is still unknown.

Despite plenty of speculation about who might take on the role – with suggestions ranging from actors like Idris Elba and James Norton, to more likely choices such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Harris Dickinson – a decision hasn’t been made yet.

Callum Turner has recently become the favorite to land the role, surpassing Aaron Taylor-Johnson. He’s been a strong possibility for several months, and now appears to be the leading candidate.

What to Read Next

As he becomes the frontrunner, here’s everything you need to know about the potential next 007!

Who is Callum Turner?

Callum Turner is a British actor who started his career in 2012 with minor TV appearances in shows like Leaving and The Town. He gained more recognition a year later with roles in The Borgias and Ripper Street.

He first appeared on film in 2014, acting alongside Vanessa Kirby and David Thewlis in Queen and Country. He gained wider recognition with the critically praised horror film Green Room and the television series War & Peace.

After that, his career took off when he was cast as Theseus Scamander in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He went on to reprise the role in the 2022 film, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

He’s also been in a variety of other projects, including the period drama Emma, George Clooney’s sports film The Boys in the Boat, and the Apple TV war series Masters of the Air. Just this year, he’s starred in the critically acclaimed romantic comedy Eternity and the satirical war film Atropia.

Callum Turner movies and where to watch them

As a Prime Video subscriber, I was happy to find out I can watch Emma right away! And if you’re into thrillers like me, Green Room is available too, but you’ll need to add MGM+ to your Prime Video account and purchase it separately. It’s a little extra, but totally worth it if you’re a fan!

The movie Eternity, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Miles Teller, just came out in UK theaters last month, so it won’t be available to stream for a while. Similarly, the Fantastic Beasts films aren’t currently on any streaming services, but you can rent or buy them on Prime Video.

Soon, you’ll be able to see Turner acting with George MacKay in the British science fiction film Rose of Nevada, which currently has a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes. She also has two other projects in the works: One Night Only and Rosebush Pruning.

Callum Turner age

Okay, so I was reading that Callum Turner, who’s 35 and from London, is a potential James Bond. Apparently, Amazon wants to go with a younger 007, and since Callum’s turning 36 soon, they’re definitely considering him. It makes sense – they’re looking for someone who can really grow into the role over a long series of films.

When George Lazenby was cast as James Bond, he was actually the youngest actor to take on the role, at just 29 years old. He played the famous spy only once, in the film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

When Sean Connery first played James Bond, he was 32 years old. Daniel Craig was 38 when he took on the role. The actors who followed – Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Roger Moore – were all in their 40s, at ages 41, 42, and 45. If cast, the new actor, Turner, would actually be the third-youngest to ever play Bond.

Callum Turner partner

I was really surprised and happy to hear that Joe Alwyn started dating Dua Lipa back in January 2024, especially after his relationship with Vanessa Kirby ended in 2020. Things seem to be going great – they even got engaged in June! We’re all waiting to hear when the big day will be, but for now, I’m just sending them both my best wishes!
