I have always held Alex Trebek in the highest regard, not just for his iconic role as the host of America’s favorite quiz show, “Jeopardy!”, but also for his extraordinary life experiences and the way he touched the lives of millions.
Alex Trebek, the late iconic host of “Jeopardy!”, has amassed eight Daytime Emmy Awards, a coveted spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and starting from next month, a US postage stamp acknowledging his remarkable television career.
A long-standing quiz show host, renowned for his trivia expertise, has been honored with a new Forever stamp by the U.S. Postal Service. This new design will be released for sale beginning in July, marking four years since Trebek passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2020.
The stamp resembles the distinctive blue background of the trivia show’s logo. It bears the hint: “A natural-born American citizen presided over ‘Jeopardy!’ for an impressive 37 seasons.”
Under the blue card, you’ll find the answer to this query, written in an unusual way – upside down: “What is the identity of Alex Trebek?”
I’ve always been a huge fan of Alex Trebek. Born in Ontario, Canada, but becoming an American citizen in 1998, Trebek became the beloved host of “Jeopardy!” and its versions starting from 1984. Throughout his long tenure, he won our hearts with his sharp humor, warm smile, and played a significant role in making “Jeopardy!” a cherished part of pop culture.
Back in 2019, Trebek disclosed that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He shared this news with his supporters and expressed his intention to battle the condition. Throughout his journey until his passing, Trebek kept his “Jeopardy!” family informed about his health status. One notable way he did this was by publishing his memoir titled “The Answer Is … Reflections on My Life” in July 2020.
Amid Alex Trebek’s cancer fight, the public expressed heartfelt concern, resulting in heartwarming instances. One such instance gained widespread attention when a contestant, unable to answer a Final Jeopardy question, wrote on his response board, “What is, ‘We love you, Alex!'” instead.
Trebek died Nov. 8, 2020, at his home in Los Angeles. He was 80.

On July 22, Sony Pictures Entertainment Studios, the producer of “Jeopardy!”, will hold a commemorative event at John Calley Park in Culver City to mark the release of the Trebek-themed stamp. The festivities, scheduled for 4 p.m., are free and accessible to the general public.
