Who has Jake Paul fought?

As a seasoned gamer and boxing enthusiast, I have been closely following the career of Jake Paul and his upcoming match against Mike Perry. Paul’s journey in boxing has been nothing short of intriguing, from his white-collar debut against Deji Olatunji to his most recent fights against Nate Diaz and Andre August.

On July 20th, YouTube sensation and up-and-coming boxer Jake Paul faces off against Mike Perry, a former UFC fighter who now competes in bare-knuckle boxing. Paul is determined to make a name for himself in the world of boxing and dreams of winning championship titles one day. To boost his reputation and improve his skills, he’s taking on well-known opponents, even if they aren’t top-ranked boxers. Perry, Paul’s upcoming foe, was once a successful UFC fighter but didn’t reach his full potential there. He then shifted to bare-knuckle boxing and became a top contender due to its similarities to and greater brutality than traditional boxing. With his extensive combat sports background, Perry poses a significant challenge for Paul. The earlier boxing bouts in Paul’s career will be analyzed before he steps into the ring against Perry.

Oladeji Olatunji – amateur match

In August 2018, Paul had his initial boxing bout against Deji Olatunji in a white-collar match. Deji is a British YouTuber recognized for being the younger sibling of the UK’s most popular YouTuber, KSI. The event was an amateur YouTube boxing showdown between the Olatunji and Paul families. Paul emerged victorious with a fifth-round TKO win over Olatunji. Despite taking heavy hits to his nose, he persevered and clinched the victory.

AnEsonGib – Pro debut

In January 2020, the first professional boxing match for two popular YouTubers, AnEsonGib and Paul, took place. Prior to this high-profile event, Gib had participated in only two amateur bouts in 2018, winning both. He defeated Max Plays via second-round TKO in March and secured a decision victory over Jay Swingler in August of the same year. However, professional boxing was an uncharted territory for both content creators. In the end, Paul emerged victorious with a first-round TKO, having consistently hurt and dropped Gib until the referee intervened to stop the bout.

Nate Robinson

Nate Robinson, previously a basketball star, seized an unusual chance to face off against Paul in the co-main event of a PPV in November 2020. This bout served as the undercard for the main event between boxing greats Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. With zero boxing experience under his belt, Robinson took on Paul, who was just beginning his professional boxing career. The encounter promised excitement for a modest PPV audience. However, their inexperience was evident as Robinson charged forward recklessly, only to be met with punches from Paul. In the end, Paul delivered a well-timed punch that knocked out Robinson during the second round.

Ben Askren

In April 2021, Paul faced a more formidable opponent in Ben Askren during his boxing match. Askren had previously competed at a high level in UFC, but his expertise lay primarily in wrestling rather than boxing. Despite Askren’s weak striking abilities, he was trained for the bout by renowned boxing coach Freddie Roach. However, Paul’s superior skills proved to be the deciding factor as he knocked down Askren in the first round and ended the fight when Askren struggled to get back up.

Tyron Woodley (twice)

In August 2021, Paul took on a new challenge as he prepared to go head-to-head with Tyron Woodley. At the time, Woodley was older and had recently retired from UFC after losing in four consecutive matches against top fighters. While Askren primarily relied on wrestling, Woodley boasted both wrestling skills and respectable striking abilities, along with a solid knockout power. With Floyd Mayweather overseeing his training, Woodley appeared to be a formidable opponent for Paul. The fight resulted in a split decision victory for Paul in a closely contested match that left some spectators believing he had lost.

In December 2021, Paul had another bout against Woodley due to the latter serving as a last-minute replacement for an injured Tommy Fury. Their previous encounter was engaging and beneficial for both contenders, particularly Paul, who sought to prove his superiority. This time around, Paul dominated the match, securing a clear victory via points and delivering a knockout punch in the sixth round. Through this fight, Paul established himself as the superior fighter between the two and showcased progression in his boxing abilities.

Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva is known as one of the greatest MMA fighters in history, recognized for his exceptional striking abilities, impressive win streak, and extended title reign. However, age and injuries took a toll on Silva’s UFC career, resulting in tough losses. Undeterred, Silva moved to professional boxing and proved to be a capable contender. In October 2022, Paul and Silva were scheduled to face off in an anticipated match, praised for being a well-matched opposition. Unlike previous Paul fights, there was minimal trash talk due to the mutual admiration between the two, with Silva having inspired Paul during his childhood years. The bout ended with Paul securing a unanimous decision victory, as both fighters delivered commendable performances.

Tommy Fury

Paul and Tommy Fury’s boxing match was scheduled to take place on Aug 2023 after two previous attempts had fallen through. The first attempt was canceled in December 2021 due to Fury sustaining an injury, while the second one was called off because of travel restrictions preventing Fury from entering the US in August 2022. The bout ultimately took place in Saudi Arabia, where Fury could compete legally. Paul faced a formidable opponent, a young and skilled boxer, marking his first professional defeat. Fury, known for being Tyson Fury’s half-brother and the heavyweight champion’s trainer, put up a tough fight and secured the victory through a split decision.

Nate Diaz

After suffering his initial defeat in his pro career, Paul sought a less challenging opponent to regain his form and enhance his abilities. In August 2023, UFC veteran Nate Diaz prepared for his boxing debut against Paul. Known for his remarkable endurance, resilience, effective punching, and brash trash-talking demeanor, Diaz is a fighter who isn’t picky about opponents or fights. Although Paul was favored to emerge victorious before the bout, Diaz couldn’t be underestimated due to his tenacity and ability to catch opponents off guard until the final bell. Paul eventually secured a decisive unanimous victory, with Diaz’s durability proving valuable in boxing and making him a tough adversary to knockout.

Andre August

In the following two bouts, Paul didn’t consider the significance or publicity of his opponents. The first being Andre August, who had a record of 10 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw before facing Paul in December 2023. Sadly for August, he was knocked out in the opening round.

Ryan Bourland

Prior to their match in March 2024, Ryan Bourland had a record of 17 wins and only 2 losses, having taken a break from boxing for nearly a year and a half. It’s possible that he was seeking some smaller victories to regain confidence before facing more challenging opponents once again. However, Paul managed to secure a first-round technical knockout (TKO) against Bourland during this bout.
