Who copped a loss and who laughed all the way to the bank? Meet the Aussie celebrities who made major property moves in 2025

There was certainly no shortage of Australian celebrities making major property moves in 2025.

Celebrities, athletes, and social media personalities all invested in Australian real estate, with some seeing big profits and others facing setbacks.

Get to know the bold real estate investors who took risks on all kinds of properties – from large mansions to small, cozy apartments – with varying degrees of success.

Jesinta and Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin

After searching for a year, Jesinta and Lance Franklin sold their Gold Coast home, Villa Casa, in November.

The Australian model and her football player husband put their house on the market in October. This was actually their third attempt to sell the lavish seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom home in just over a year.

Villa Casa gained attention in October when Jesinta and Buddy Franklin put it on the market for $10.9 million. However, they haven’t revealed how much the house actually sold for.

I was so excited to hear that the couple recently purchased a stunning $4.6 million estate in Guanaba! It’s a beautiful, somewhat secluded area within the Gold Coast Hinterland – a real escape for them, I imagine.

Avonleigh Park, a 3.2-hectare property located on the Coomera River, was sold privately before it was set to go to auction in July, as reported by The Sunday Telegraph.

The property generated a lot of online attention, receiving over 21,000 views. Kollosche agents Kara Christensen and Bella Sorenson successfully sold it after 15 private showings and only 20 days on the market.

Rebel Wilson

Rebel Wilson, the Australian actress, recently sold an investment property in Balmain, a suburb located on Sydney Harbour.

The star sold their two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment in Balmain in September for a private amount, marking a significant moment for them.

Originally planned to be auctioned in 2024 with an asking price of $3.3 million, the property remained unsold for a month before Rebel stepped in and withdrew it from the market.

Afterward, realestate.com reported that a real estate agent suggested Rebel Wilson lower the price to $2.2 million. However, the actress instead decided to rent the property out for $1,200 per week.

She fired her previous agent and hired Anna Wilson, the sister of a famous Hollywood actor. Wilson then launched a new marketing effort and listed the property for $2 million.

I’ve been following Rebel’s property moves for a while now, and I remember when they snapped up this amazing apartment back in 2018! It’s in this really cool, historic old Lever Brothers soap factory, and they bought it off the plan for $1.8 million. It’s a two-bedroom place, and I always thought it was a fantastic investment for them.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Rebel Wilson made a profit of $270,000 when she sold her property in December for $2.15 million.

Rebecca and Chris Judd

Bec and Chris Judd sold their beautiful Mornington Peninsula home in May for between $2.85 and $3 million. They had put the property on the market in February.

The Herald Sun reported in November that public records showed the couple lost a significant amount of money – over $100,000 – on the sale, selling for less than they originally asked.

The property sold for $2.78 million, which was $70,000 below what the owners were hoping for and $220,000 less than their asking price of $3 million.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m often asked about what truly adds value to a home sale. In this recent transaction, the director at Marshall White Stonnington, Ben Veith, understandably kept the final sale price confidential. However, I can share that the beautiful furniture and design elements, all thoughtfully created by Rebecca, were actually included in the deal – a fantastic bonus for the new owners and a testament to the power of cohesive interior styling!

‘She wanted to sell it as she created it,’ he said.

Rebecca was very involved in the renovation and regularly shared updates with her 752,000 Instagram followers.

After putting the property on the market, she explained to Domain.com.au that things tend to move fast when she’s personally involved.

I consistently push things forward and keep everyone on track. I and my team are strong communicators, and we proactively address potential problems before they escalate.

Simon Pryce

Simon Pryce, one of the Red Wiggles, purchased a new home in Sydney’s south-eastern suburbs for $5.7 million in November.

Located in nearby Maroubra, about 13 kilometers from the city center, the new home is a modern, two-story building with five bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I just read in the Daily Telegraph that Richard Pryce and his amazing wife, Lauren Hannaford, were finally looking for a bigger place! Apparently, little Asher, their son, is already FOUR years old! Can you even imagine? They clearly needed more space for their growing family, and honestly, I’ve been waiting for them to announce it forever!

Just a short walk from South Coogee Beach, the property was originally built in the 1970s. It was purchased by Pryce and completely renovated after it last sold at auction in 2010 for $1.9 million.

The renovated home, designed by an architect, features a large living area that flows out to a pool and beautifully maintained garden, complete with an outdoor dining area.

I was really interested to hear that Simon decided to make this change, especially since I know he recently sold his beautiful beach house in Clovelly for $2.52 million back in September of last year.

Tones and I

Singer Tones and I continued her penchant for luxury real estate on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, purchasing a large country property in December for $6.4 million.

Toni Watson, the 25-year-old singer known as [stage name – not provided in source], recently purchased three connected properties on a popular vacation spot, according to realestate.com.au.

The popular musician recently bought a property in Tyabb, a town 53 kilometers from Melbourne, that features three separate homes.

This property includes a large 2.9 million dollar estate with a cozy home designed to resemble a classic English cottage.

Tones and I also purchased a second contemporary four-bedroom house as part of the same real estate transaction, costing her $1.4 million.

It features a covered alfresco terrace and adjoining deck, and a spacious open layout.

Okay, so you will NOT believe this! She just added another house to her collection! It’s huge – four bedrooms, and apparently worth a whopping $2.1 million! Seriously, is she trying to buy up the entire state? I’m tracking every single property she gets, and this one is just…amazing. It completes her whole real estate package, whatever that means, but honestly, I’m just obsessed with knowing where she lives!

The property includes a beautiful classic fountain, along with a gym, recreation room, a spacious covered porch, and its own orchard.

Michael Clarke

In November, Michael Clarke spent around $20 million on a large six-bedroom house in Vaucluse, a prestigious neighborhood in Sydney.

The 44-year-old recently purchased a spacious three-story family home. The property includes over 1,000 square meters of land and roughly 800 square meters of living space inside.

This solid, double-brick and concrete home is set back from the street, behind beautiful gardens. It features six bathrooms, several living spaces, and parking for two vehicles.

The home’s interior boasts a stunning entryway with a unique circular ceiling and an artfully designed staircase that connects the formal and relaxed living areas.

The property last sold in 2007 for $7 million. This year, it was originally expected to sell for around $25 million, but Clarke ultimately purchased it through a private sale.

He now lives nearby in Vaucluse, in a home he purchased in 2021 for $13 million. He previously sold the house he shared with his ex-wife, Kyly, for $12 million.
