Who Alex Gazarian Is In The Lincoln Lawyer & How He Connects To The Lisa Trammel Case

Season four of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer reintroduces Alex Garizian, someone linked to the Lisa Trammel case and harboring resentment towards Mickey Haller. This season presents Mickey with his toughest challenge yet: he must defend himself in a murder trial while also acting as his own lawyer.

As Mickey works to clear his name, he’ll be forced to confront issues from his past. Season four of The Lincoln Lawyer introduces several characters who have reasons to be angry with the lawyer himself.

The situation is complicated because the victim used to be his client, and one of the witnesses he’s called back is also someone he previously represented. To make matters worse, his prime suspect, Alex Gazarian, will be familiar to viewers from the Lisa Trammell case.

Alex Gazarian Is Alex Grant From The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2

In season two of The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller defends Lisa Trammell, who stands accused of murdering Mitchell Bondurant. Although Trammell did commit a murder, it wasn’t Bondurant she killed. As Mickey investigates, he uncovers emails revealing that a man named Alex Grant—actually Alex Gazarian—had previously threatened Bondurant.

Alex Gazarian runs a construction business and had previously worked with the land developer who was murdered. He has a criminal record on his job sites. After learning the FBI believed Gazarian was involved with the Armenian mafia, Mickey realizes Gazarian might be the key to proving Lisa’s innocence, considering their connection and his past offenses.

Mickey accuses Gazarian of his crimes and reveals his connection to the mafia. Though this strengthens Mickey’s case, it creates problems for him and his team. As a result, Gazarian loses his lucrative Olympic deal and many clients, costing both him and the Armenian mob a significant amount of money.

The second season of the show, featuring characters Alex Gazarian and Lisa Trammell, plays a key role in solving Mickey’s case and sets up the conclusion of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4.

Why Lisa Trammell Returns For Mickey’s Murder Trial

Near the end of season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer, Lisa Trammell unexpectedly appears at Mickey’s murder trial, while Alex Gazarian continues to stay away. She’s brought in by the prosecution as a last-minute, surprising witness.

Lisa Trammell tried to influence the prosecutors by claiming Mickey was motivated by revenge and would do anything for money. While her story is mostly made up, it contains a small amount of truth. On the stand, Lisa testified that Mickey violated their confidential lawyer-client relationship by telling the police she was responsible for her husband’s death.

It’s partially true that Mickey told Lorna about the murder, and she then informed Griggs about it and where to look for evidence. However, that’s the only accurate part of Lisa’s story in season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer; everything else she says is a lie.

She claims Mickey reported her to the police because he was upset she sold the story of her life to a podcaster without paying him. Her argument is that if he’d betray their confidential lawyer-client relationship over money, he’s capable of much worse, even murder. However, they quickly disprove her claims by showing letters she sent to Mickey while in prison, revealing her own history of threats.

Alex Gazarian’s Connection To Sam Scales & His Death Explained

Despite difficulties locating and legally compelling Gazarian to testify, Mickey and his team manage to piece together the connections between Alex, Sam Scales, and the murder. They discover Alex Gazarian founded a company called Biogreen, but registered it under other people’s names. He then launched a fraudulent operation called “Bleeding the Beast,” using illegal tactics to obtain government funding.

Okay, so here’s the deal with Biogreen – they’re getting paid by the government to be eco-friendly, specifically for selling biofuel and the raw materials they use to make it. But what I’ve heard is they’re basically driving regular fuel out of their facility in tanker trucks, swapping the labels, and then bringing those same barrels back in as biofuel to collect the subsidies. It’s a pretty blatant scheme, if you ask me.

I was so fascinated by Sam Scales’ story! When he found out about the Biogreen scam, he didn’t just want to participate – he wanted to outsmart everyone involved. With his specially adapted truck, he became one of their drivers, but being Sam, he turned the tables. He started secretly taking a cut of the government money that was supposed to go to Gazarian and his crew – basically, he was conning the con artists! It was a brilliant, if risky, move.

I was completely floored by this part of the story. Gazarian was furious, and he concocted this incredibly cold and calculated plan. He slipped Rohypnol to Sam, then drove him to Mickey’s place. The sheer audacity of it – he put Sam in the trunk of Mickey’s car and, while Mickey was asleep, shot him right there, using a silencer to cover it up. It’s a truly chilling sequence.

He deliberately removed the license plate from Mickey’s car, hoping to give a police officer a reason to stop him. He also appears to have secretly alerted the officer to watch for Mickey, suggesting the Armenian mob had influence over at least one member of law enforcement. It was a remarkably well-planned setup to make Mickey look guilty.

What Happens To Alex Gazarian In The Lincoln Lawyer

Throughout season four of The Lincoln Lawyer, Alex Gazarian is largely in hiding, avoiding capture. Mickey initially believes Gazarian is running from a legal summons, but the truth is he’s afraid of the Armenian mafia. Despite his own influence, Gazarian isn’t a leader within the organization.

The murder trial involving Mickey Haller sparked intense anger. Gazarian, motivated by selfishness and a desire for revenge, made a reckless decision to kill Sam and try to blame Mickey. While he could have easily gotten away with the murder, his pride and vengefulness led him to make mistakes.

His behavior threatened to expose the entire Armenian criminal organization. Eventually, two members located Alex Gazarian and murdered him just as Cisco was about to deliver a legal summons. He had simply become too much of a risk to keep around.

In season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey manages to clear his name without a direct showdown with the criminal he’s up against. However, the Armenian mob still views him as a problem they need to eliminate. While the FBI apprehended the people who were tailing Mickey by the end of the season, he remains a potential target.
