White Lotus star reveals he was bitten by a snake

Actor Walton Goggins, best known for his role on The White Lotus, disclosed that he was indeed bitten by a snake while shooting scenes for the upcoming season.

In the third season of the HBO drama, the actor takes on the role of Rick Hatchett, who journeys to a lavish Thai resort alongside his companion Chelsea (portrayed by Aimee Lou Wood), marking another destination in their globe-trotting adventure.

During an episode of the series, the pair departed from the resort and visited the nearby town, where they attended a reptile exhibition. However, Rick abruptly abandoned the show and released a cage full of poisonous snakes. Unfortunately, one of these escaped creatures bit Chelsea, necessitating an immediate trip to the hospital.

During the filming, Walton disclosed an incident that mirrored his own experience. After handling a snake, it ended up biting him.

On “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, Walton openly admitted that he is extremely fearful of snakes, and he found the filming process particularly daunting.

He mentioned that the snake handler was positioned off-camera since his very first encounter with the snake led him to break down in tears, quite uncontrollably.

After we were about to start filming our first scene, they guided us through the entire experience. They walked around the cages and warned, “Please don’t touch this cage; it contains a snake that could kill you. This cage over here has snakes in it too, but avoid the brown ones.

The star confessed that his thoughts are solely focused on the initial snake-filled cage where death awaits, stating: “Everything else fades away. Then they shout ‘Action’. It feels like warning against opening the first one because it will lead to your demise. Was it green or brown? Which one had a massive, deadly bite?

Walton shared an account of a challenging snake encounter, reminiscing: “I attempted to extract a specific green snake, but it resisted coming out. In response, the snake bit me. To this day, I have never revealed this tale to anyone!

The performer revealed that, initially, he wasn’t certain he needed to head to the hospital, so he worked for an additional nine hours.

Until tomorrow, I receive a call from the producer who suggests, “Hey, it seems we’ve been discussing the possibility that you might need to visit the hospital.

I asked, ‘What’s going on here? You told me the snake was harmless, but now I’m feeling unwell. Do I have some hidden information from you? Did I get bitten by a venomous snake without knowing it?’ In the end, I decided to visit the hospital and got a tetanus shot.
