In essence, instead of portraying Trump as a Jedi, the White House has essentially depicted him as a Sith.

The underlying message seeks to depict “Radical Left Lunatics” as the actual world’s Empire. Unfortunately for the White House, the image’s impact is weakened due to the presence of a lightsaber, symbolizing a force perceived as rebellious or disruptive.

Donald Trump’s Star Wars Day Message Is A Strange One

As a devoted Star Wars fan, it feels somewhat unusual to link this iconic saga with American nationalism historically. George Lucas himself modeled Star Wars on the Vietnam War, which is why the rebellion represents a resilient, underdog resistance against an oppressive, technologically superior Empire. This backstory alone makes the recent White House pro-Trump image using Star Wars imagery feel a bit out of place.

In the context of Star Wars, the red lightsaber poses a significant issue in communication because it’s associated with the dark side. Unlike other lightsabers, a red one is created through a process called “bleeding,” where a dark sider channels intense emotions such as hatred, rage, and bitterness into a kyber crystal, aligning it to the dark side. These weapons are exclusively wielded by Sith and those who follow the dark path.
