I recently saw an announcement for the game GOALS, which will have an open beta on March 13th, 2026. At first, I didn’t pay much attention because it mentioned being available on Steam, Xbox, and PS5. However, I checked Steam to see if I could add it to my wishlist, and now I’m interested in learning more.
While we have only the PC beta announced, the Steam description confirms a mobile release
Let me quickly explain what to expect from this game before I share my full thoughts. GOALS is a free-to-play football game designed for quick, skill-based matches, unlike some other football games where a lot is pre-determined.
So, the developers are really focusing on making this game super competitive. It’s all about getting good at the core gameplay – nailing the mechanics and making smart choices during matches. Basically, you’ll be building your own club from the ground up, creating your dream team, and then climbing the ranks by competing against other players. It sounds like skill and strategy are going to be key!
GOALS is now in Open Beta, offering a smooth, fair, and purely football-focused gaming experience. Say goodbye to lag, cheating, and any distractions – it’s all about the game.

Every player in the game has their own special skills and appearance. As you play matches, you’ll earn in-game money to create new players, change your team’s uniforms, and unlock fun celebrations. Over time, players on your team will also retire and become legends for the club.
When the game first releases, players will be able to compete in one-on-one online matches, with a team-based 5v5 mode coming later. The developers also intend to host official esports competitions with prize money. Ultimately, they envision GOALS allowing players to compete against each other on any device – PCs, consoles, phones, and handhelds – regardless of the platform.
GOALS is taking a different route from the usual formula, and that’s fantastic
When it comes to mobile football games, the market is currently led by major players like EA SPORTS FC Mobile and eFootball. Although eFootball likely has the best actual gameplay at the moment, many new football games, including UFL, are starting to feel quite similar to each other and a little stale.
Many football games follow a similar formula these days: eye-catching graphics, official player licenses, huge player rosters, and a focus on collecting player cards. While this approach is successful, it often leads to a lack of originality and makes new games feel too much alike.
Honestly, GOALS is a nice change of pace. Instead of always needing official licenses and real football teams, this game is building its own world with completely made-up players. It still has the card collecting aspect, which I love, but it’s cool that it doesn’t depend on actual footballers. It feels more freeing, you know?
It’s great to see a game that truly encourages limitless creativity – it’s a refreshing change from typical mobile football games. Being able to create freely and just visualize your ideas is really enjoyable.
I was really impressed by how the game looks and feels. The presentation and user interface are incredibly smooth and modern. Everything, from the menus to the graphics, feels polished and helps the game immediately grab your attention.
The game doesn’t aim for ultra-realistic simulation like some other football titles. Instead, it feels more arcade-like, prioritizing quick reactions and enjoyment over absolute realism. In fact, that might be exactly what this game needed to stand out.
Why do we need another super-realistic football game? There are already plenty that focus on every little detail and feature the biggest stars. Sometimes, players just want a quick, exciting, and truly enjoyable experience.
If GOALS can create a great experience for users and expand to mobile devices as part of its system, it has the potential to be a really exciting football project to follow in the future. Hopefully, it lives up to its promise. GOALS, the spotlight is on you – make it happen!
