Christopher Nolan’s latest blockbuster is coming to theaters soon, and here’s where you can see it. The promotion for this movie is unique, largely because it was filmed entirely using IMAX cameras. Nolan’s strong connection to the IMAX format is a key part of how Universal is marketing the film.
Fans were surprised when tickets for the IMAX 70mm version of the film went on sale a year early this summer. A short teaser trailer for the movie first appeared in theaters before Jurassic World Rebirth, and was later shown with other IMAX films. Now, before the full trailer is released alongside Avatar: Fire and Ash, a six-minute preview will be shown.
The Odyssey’s 6-Minute Prologue Is Playing In IMAX 70mm Starting December 12

Moviegoers will soon have a chance to see a special six-minute preview of The Odyssey in select IMAX 70mm theaters. This preview will play before showings of two other films, Sinners and One Battle After Another, which are both being re-released in the high-quality format starting December 12th. Universal and IMAX have partnered to offer this exclusive look at the upcoming film.
Starting December 11th, both Sinners and One Battle After Another will be back in theaters for a limited time. These re-releases will conclude on December 18th, making way for Avatar: Fire and Ash, which will then be shown on all IMAX screens starting December 19th. Throughout the re-release period, a six-minute prologue called The Odyssey will play before each movie.
This is your only chance to watch the prologue, as the six-minute clip won’t be released online. Universal Pictures plans to show a full trailer in theaters alongside the movie Avatar: Fire and Ash, and that’s the version everyone will be able to see. So, if you want to see a longer preview of The Odyssey, these re-releases of Sinners and One Battle After Another are a must-see.
Full Theater List With The Odyssey’s IMAX 70mm Prologue

Tickets for the preview are going fast, and options are limited. Plus, there aren’t many theaters that can even show it in the best possible format. There are only 10 IMAX 70mm theaters worldwide, and they’re all being used for the re-releases of Sinners and One Battle After Another.
Here’s a list of theaters playing the special IMAX 70mm prologue for The Odyssey before screenings of Sinners and One Battle After Another.
