Which Harrigan Is Secretly Working With Richie? Shocking Betrayal Revealed!
Warning: Major spoilers ahead for episode 8 of MobLand
In the gripping crime saga “MobLand” on Paramount+, the ongoing conflict between the Harrigans and the Stevensons has been brimming with tension and suspicion. However, it was in episode 8 that we learned definitively that one of the Harrigans has had a secret alliance with Richie Stevenson since the beginning. In an attempt to gather more intel on the Stevensons’ fentanyl business for Conrad, Harry cleverly manipulated Freddie, one of Richie’s henchmen, into disclosing a crucial detail: it was not Archie Hammond, who was killed in episode 1 of “MobLand”, but another Harrigan who had been working with Richie all along.
Through Freddie’s off-screen disclosure that led to his untimely demise, viewers are still uncertain about which Harrigan crime syndicate member has been secretly sabotaging Conrad’s fentanyl operation. However, certain characters can be ruled out due to hints in the show and their previous actions. Although multiple suspects remain plausible, one character stands out as a prime candidate, given their actions up until now, and this betrayal surprisingly fits well into the overall storyline’s logic.
Which Harrigans Are Most Likely To Be Working With Richie
Some Characters Have Plenty Of Motivation
There’s no doubt that several significant figures have been mistreated by Conrad Harrigan, which is more than enough reason for them to join forces with Richie Stevenson and hasten his demise. For instance, Kevin’s wife Bella Harrigan had an association with Conrad when she was quite young. Since Conrad held a powerful position at the time, it’s reasonable to infer that their relationship wasn’t entirely consensual. In episode 8 of MobLand, Conrad made clear that there are no secrets between them, and Bella’s distaste and contempt for him are evidently palpable.

For several decades, Conrad’s infidelities have caused Maeve deep hurt, and given her strong Irish heritage, it wouldn’t be surprising if she were connected with his rival. In fact, previous events show that she worked together with Richie to murder Seraphina, Conrad’s cherished daughter. Moreover, O’Hara Delaney, the Harrigan family attorney, played by Lisa Dwan, isn’t free from suspicion because she knows all the Harrigans’ secrets and was the one who exposed the fact that a traitor resides within their ranks. This knowledge could serve as a clever distraction for her own potential involvement.
One captivating possibility under consideration is Harry Da Souza, who appears to be exceptionally astute and always one step ahead of the people he interacts with. Witnessing Conrad’s downfall might be sufficient motivation for him to collaborate with Richie, especially if Harry believed his wife and daughter were in danger from Conrad, which is certainly plausible. So far, he has come across as extremely loyal, but whether this loyalty is genuine or a cleverly planned ruse remains to be seen.
Which Harrigans We Can Safely Rule Out
Other Characters Make No Sense As Stevenson Allies
It seems quite certain that Conrad won’t be involved, and since Eddie killed his son under Maeve’s orders, it’s unlikely he’s working with Richie Stevenson. As for what we’ve observed so far, Jan’s storyline with Alice suggests she lacks the cunning to pull off a complex betrayal or deception. She too can be ruled out as a suspect.
Seraphina is unwaveringly loyal to her father and doesn’t have any compelling reasons to betray him. Furthermore, Richie came close to killing her, so she appears to be an unlikely candidate.
It’s obvious that Kevin Harrigan harbors strong negative feelings towards both his father and mother, bordering on intense dislike. He might secretly desire their downfall, but being the likely successor to the Harrigan throne, he would not escape Richie’s vengeance in such a scenario. Despite his understandable anger over Richie’s son Tommy’s murder, it seems excessive to assume that Kevin would collaborate with Richie against his father for revenge.
Final Prediction: Maeve Has Been Working With Richie
She’s Already Proven She Can’t Be Trusted
Maeve has been instrumental in most actions that have undermined Conrad’s power and stability since the very first episode of “MobLand,” starting with Conrad’s killing of his friend Archie Hammond. She demonstrated early on her readiness to jeopardize her own son’s safety if it meant causing harm to Conrad permanently by taking his daughter away from him. This degree of pride and malice is beyond reasoning, and it appears entirely plausible that Maeve would collaborate with her husband’s adversary in pursuit of revenge for his long history of infidelity.
It’s been frequently hinted that Maeve and Richie share a past, suggesting that her act of betrayal may have been brewing for some time. Interestingly, Richie chose not to inform Conrad about Maeve’s role in the kidnapping and attempted murder of Brendan and Seraphina. This decision could be explained if Richie was still useful to him as a spy within their organization. As we approach the end of the first season of MobLand, it seems we will finally discover who has been sabotaging the Harrigans from within, and all signs point towards Maeve as the culprit.
