Where's Jax? Garcelle Beauvais says 'horrible' racist comments drove son to leave 'RHOBH'

As a movie lover who has seen her fair share of drama unfold on-screen, I find myself deeply troubled by the events that have transpired off-screen for Garcelle Beauvais and her family. The online harassment faced by her teenage son Jax, due to his involvement in “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” is not only unacceptable but also heartbreaking.

Garçelle Beauvais shares that her teenager, Jax, has chosen to step out of the limelight on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” following the incident of racial cyberbullying he experienced in 2022.

In a conversation on the “Pop Culture Moms” podcast, the actress who starred in “Coming to America” shared that her son expressed his inability to continue before the filming of “RHOBH” Season 14 began. Jax told her, “Mom, I can’t do it anymore. It was too negative for me,” indicating he found the environment too harmful.

“In that instance, he wasn’t featured at all during this week’s release,” she noted in Tuesday’s broadcast.

In August of 2022, the Daily Mail shared news about Jax, then 14 years old, addressing negative remarks he received in a post on Instagram. He kindly asked Internet trolls, who targeted his older brother Oliver’s struggle with addiction, to stop bothering him by saying “please leave me alone.” Similarly, during the same week, Beauvais pleaded with social media users to stop commenting on their children’s accounts amidst the ongoing drama depicted on screen.

“She expressed her distress by saying, ‘It’s painful, it’s not right, I cried all night over a TV program, some people even shout and throw things at their TV.’ This was her post earlier.”

On August 24, 2022, Beauvais spoke out on Jax’s behalf, expressing his disassociation from the show’s conflicts, stating, “I didn’t join this series, and I’m not involved in the show’s dramas.”

He added: “Middle aged women spamming me with racist and crude comments about my family is not what I expected for my first week of high school.”

In that moment, Beauvais’ “RHOBH” peers and Bravo, the network airing the “Real Housewives” series, likewise expressed their backing for the actor and condemned the “hurtful discourse.”

Beauvais, the mother of twins Jax and Jaid with her former spouse Michael Nilon, expressed on “Pop Culture Moms” that she seriously contemplated departing from “RHOBH” following her son’s ordeal. Moreover, she mentioned that “Real Housewives of New Jersey” cast member Teresa Giudice served as a significant source of encouragement for her during this time.

“When Jax experienced that, it left me utterly astonished since no one deserves such treatment,” Beauvais expressed. “No child deserves it. However, I realized it was happening because of our connection and it being our family. And it was his first week at high school. To see him exposed to such cruelty and ugliness at such a young age was truly heartbreaking. It was truly horrific.”

The “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Flight” actress mentioned that she presents her sons with the opportunity to participate in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” at the start of each season, explaining that they already face enough challenges such as navigating high school and finding their life’s path.

Despite the absence of Jax from the show, Beauvais hinted that “RHOBH” Season 14 would still be exceptionally engaging.

“She expressed that there are numerous cherished moments and relationships that are evolving, as well as some that are fading away. She seems unsure, but suggests a meeting: ‘Can we gather somewhere and discuss this? It could be intense.'”
